pc will not boot from my winxp pro sp2 disc

    my pc is screwed up i need to format and reinstall.starting with the disc in the drive shows nothing.anyone know why,i have checked bios and can see no problem?

    1. Brand and model of computer?
    2. Is the disk a genuine MS disk?
    3. When you checked the BIOS, is the optical drive listed as the first boot device?
    Completely black screen or do you see something then it stops? Any POST beeps?

    pc is amd triplecore 710.4gig ram.m2n68-am plus.mobo.1tb hdd.8800gs card
    pc starts up normaly does not recognise disc goes straight to restore active desktop screen,i click restore it does nothing half hour later still nothing just as bad as blue screen of death.ps optical drive light comes on first when pc starts up very confusing!

    Try restarting the computer and hit the delete key immediately and repeatedly until you see an option to enter Setup. Use the left arrow to get over to the Boot screen and then <enter> button. Then you want to check boot device priority and make sure CD is before HardDrive.
