why are there 2 iexplore.exe running in processes?

first off please don't refer me to other posts or threads because I don't like trying to read thru all of them just to find out the answer.

whenever I try to use internet explorer (i usually use firefox but sometimes need to use IE), it runs really slow & when I go into the task manager under processes it says that there are 2 iexplore.exe processes running & takes up tons of memory. Of course when I end task on the one that shows its not doind anything, it just closes all of them. Have I somehow picked up a bug? Can someone tell me how to fix this, & please without sending me to other threads

ok I've run ad-aware anniversary, zonealarm security suite, avg & malwarebytes anti-malware & its not finding anything out of the normal trackin cookies from websites. I just dont understand why its running 2 processes for the same program. So how do I fix so it doesn't?

ok but its killing me in speed cause my comp is getting pretty old & can barely handle some pages on internet if too many videos or something. So its driving me nuts because for some reason when I try to watch a .wmv file on firefox it doesn't open in w.m.p. keeps going to nero (which just takes too long to start up) so have to us IE for videos.

 

Or right click the file, click open with, select choose default programs, select what you want, and check the box "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file".
