Something was not right with my computer so, I uninstalled all my spyware programs. The only one I am having a challenge with is Malwarebytes, every time I open it, I get a message on the screen saying - Malwarebytes is already running. This never happened before I uninstalled the program. Anyone have any idea's what could be happening?

XP Home, SP3, Dell desktop, AMD

try reinstalling it to see if that fixes the problem. and i have a few question

why did you unistall all your antivirus? that is not a smart idea

what was this problem you had that caused you to unistall all your antivirus? it could be related

and if you dont want to reinstall it try using unlocker from this adress it is simple and a few clicks will free the folder from restraints then try unistalling it one more time

Use add/remove to uninstall it and reboot.
    Download this cleanup tool
    Code:
    http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam-clean.exe
    run it and reboot.
    Install malwarebytes again.

Check task manager to see if it is running.

I did not uninstall my antivirus programs , just the spyware ones you are told to in the Read and Run Malware thread. I had all of them already running and I needed to get rid of them to follow the instructions. I had a AV program running... :)

Once I get the computer running I will try the uninstall link.

Yes, Tim, it was running in task manager.

I was foolish last night and tried to fix the computer myself instead of waiting for an answer from Malware experts. I ran two programs that I saw were given as advice for other people. Oppps. I found some adware and another Trojan- I have the name written down on the trashed computer. I ran Spy Terminator And Dr W- something I saw recommeded here to someone to fix combo- a problem I had, combo did not run when I did the Malware work.
I was on the phone with Cox and with Dell for a bit ( no comment)
I ran the programs in safe mode, deleted the items and then restarted the computer.
Instead of going to the screen it went to ckdsck and started deleting tons of items.
When it started up I could not connect to the Net. I had no connectivity and my network adapter was gone. I tried a sys restore, nothing I could not restore to any point. Cox helped me refresh and set up new IP address, nope. I was finally able to get the computer to accept the driver for my Nvida Network Adapter, still no connectivity.
So, until I get my computer working again, I guess, this issuse is a non issue.
I am trying to figure out how to get XP to repair, not new install or I am going to lose everything I have on there. At this point it will not let me copy them to a 2 Gig stick.
I had an old trashed up HP in the closet I was going to give to my grandson.
I had partioned it. I used my copy of XP Home and did a reformatt. There were damaged sections, so, it is barely running now, however, it is at least connecting to the NET for now so I can check and see when my malware post is answered. Though now it is in much worse shape then it was before.
A little knowledge is a dangerous things... :))))
I was up until 5 am working on these two computers... sigh...
Thanks for all of your kinds words.

when you were in safe mode what did you delete?

did you try safe mode with networking?

its not a good idea to use similar threads for such an exact problem. can you get any of your usb ports to read your flash drive?

if so try reinstalling the antivirus programs and doing a full clean for the viruses and let us know how it goes.

and as for malware bytes original problem try getting to your start up and disabling all of its start up processes and then uninstalling it if you still wish to

and stick to this topic for this problem

I had it written down in notpad, however, I cannot get to it now.
Opps, sorry, I was just trying to explain what was going on now. Newbie and will not make that mistake again... :)

Again, I have an antivirus on it. And, I cannot uninstall and download another, because I cannot connect to the NET.

I am not going to even deal with Malware byets issue, until I get the computer running...
I have tried all the safe modes, I cannot get it to repair.
I deleted some files, they were not system files, that had... sorry, cannot remember the name... and a coupon printer exe. that was infected.
Again, I am sorry. I will come back to this problem when I have handled the other. I just wanted to thank the people who were kind enough to assist and not just ignore them. I just have bigger fish to fry at this time...
Red Death, the problems are not similar - what is happening with the Malware bytes was NOT even a problem when I posted two days ago in the other thread. This has been going on for three weeks. I just wanted to see if anyone else had a ever had a similar problem and what they did about it.
The dead computer is a whole new issue.

i wasnt saying to use internet for any of the anitvirus stuff i asked if it will read your flash drive (the 2 gig stick as you put it)

also what makes you think that chkdsk deleted files of your system?

and check device manager for any either missing or currupt drivers that could impact your net for device manager go start > control panel > system > hardware > device manager

if they have any errors they will have a yellow question mark next to them

let us know the results and we can go from there

    A. I watched it happening, I watched it deleting files before my eyes.
    B. I have checked manager.
I mean no respect, however, I do not feel we are communicating well, so, I think I would like to end this discussion.
Thank you for your help. Have a great weekend.
    Peace out.

Nope, it is not running according to the task manager.
How is the family doing, it has been almost 9 months since I was online. I had surgery , my daughter had a preemie so, life got really hectic and I was having to travel with no computer.
Thanks for all you, and everyone else does to help those of us who are just learning or new to this.
    :)

HI John, Not the same problem, my problem is that when I go to start Malwarebytes it tells me that I am already running it, then a minute later it starts up. However, I am now having to reformat the HD, so, I guess that should not be a problem. :):)
