i'm running WinXP Home, SP3...last install of hotfixes was 3 or 4 days ago.

don't have much cause to go into my SVI, but wanted to because i keep getting a popup from Kaspersky that a worm (Win.MSSQL.worm.Helkern) has tried to access a port & been blocked. after a scan, Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 will let me access my SVI folder (i have it set to wait to do anything, if anything's found, until i tell it), if it finds anything, then i can delete, move to other folders, etc. once i leave, i'm denied access. "...not accessible. Access is denied" i can right click, but not open it.

i want to be able to access when I want to, not when "someone" feels like letting me. i searched the forums & the threads it returned weren't what i need to know. one referenced installing explorerXP, but that thread was from 2000/2001, with another reply from 2004, & wasn't comfortable trying that.

also, System Restore keeps changing the size of the restore points. i had manually set it at 2gb, now it's back up to 10gb. i have System Restore turned on for my internal drive but have it turned off on my external storage drive & occasionally i'll find that it's also been reset to max & turned back on.

i Googled & went to microsoft & got this:
i opened a command prompt (Start > Run... > cmd > Okay), it starts at:
    C:\Documents and Settings\cake>

i enter the info (per microsoft):
    "C:\System Volume Information" /E /G cake:F

    and it returns:
'"C:\System Volume Information"' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

    then it goes back to:
    C:\Documents and Settings\cake>

i even went into my C: root folder (where the SVI is actually located), opened cmd.exe, entered the same info and it still came back with "not recognized"

is this a function of SP2 or 3, KIS2010, or is there something i'm not getting? i didn't try it in SafeMode, yet, but will if that's recommened.

one other note; the worm popups have only been occuring for the last week or so, KIS has been giving me the following popup: Win.MSSQL.worm.Helkern has been blocked at port #### (different port & IP each time). Googled the worm & found info from 2005 to use SDFix, ComboFix, HijackThis, CCleaner, etc. old info, so not comfortable trying that without further recommendations.

KIS is not finding that worm, except to tell me it's tried to access a port & has blocked it.

also have checked WINDOWS folder & system32 for particular items related to that worm (C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ixwjuffj.tmp2, C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ixwjuffj.tmp, and C:\WINDOWS\imsins.BAK) and none of them are in there. all my folders/files are UNhidden.

appreciate any help. let me know if you need any other info...i'm not using any additional malware programs right now, although i do have them saved to install if needed (SDFix, ComboFix, HijackThis, CCleaner, SpybotS&D) & i do have a couple registry helpers (TuneUp Utilities 2009 & jv16 Power Tools 2009) installed, although i don't usually touch the registry functions of either, except to clean individual, easily recognized entries...i rarely do this.

    thanks again!
