downloading music and video

    what is the easiest program I can download to my laptop so i can copy music/movies from other cd/dvd discs?

    I get formats i don't know like VOB. i was told to download 'Dfab, Shrink and GOM player' programs. Any suggestions. Again please think easy and the fewer downloads the better.

    You actually want to "rip" a protected CD or DVD that you own.
    The easiest, I've found, for movies (I don't rip music) is the free WinXDVDRipper. http://majorgeeks.com/WinX_DVD_Ripper_d6190.html
    It rips it to an avi file which can be played on your computer.
    I figured out how to do it without doing much reading. :-D

    However, if you want to put it on something like an iPod, then you have to go for the Platinum $ version

    If a movie is about 90 minutes running time, it will take close to 90 minutes to rip it.

    And, if you're looking to download any music or videos or movies from any site on-line, don't forget about Real Player's "Download this Video" button. It's fabulous!!!! It can download any audio or video file.

    Thanks all, good info. I am experiencing problems though copying from a 'copied DVD-R' disc to my C drive. The WINX doesn't recognize it. What do I have to do ??? Change format ???
