THE DIFFERENCE IF YOU MARRY A SOUTHERN GIRL

    The first man married a

woman from OHIO. He told her that she was to do the dishes and

house cleaning. It took a couple of days, but on the third

day, he came home to see a clean house and dishes washed and put

    away.

    The second man married a

woman from MICHIGAN. He gave his wife orders that she was to

do all the cleaning, dishes and the cooking. The first day he didn't

see any results, but the next day he saw it was better. By the third

day, he saw his house was clean, the dishes were done and there was

a huge dinner on the table.

    The third man married a

girl from THE SOUTH. He ordered her to keep the house cleaned,

dishes washed, lawn mowed, laundry washed, and hot meals on the

    table for every meal.

He said the first day he

didn't see anything, the second day he didn't see anything, but by

the third day, some of the swelling had gone down and he could see

a little out of his left eye, and his arm was healed enough that he

could fix himself a sandwich and load the dishwasher.

He still pees with some difficulty.

    :-D

Go ahead and laugh!! I'm from Pennsylvania and I DID marry a Southern girl from Mississippi and I'm sorry Gensuknives, but there is one flaw to your story....it's my RIGHT eye, not the left:-D As for the other part, well since this IS a family forum, I'll leave that part up to your imaginationsroflmao However, one little clue....:cry

In all honesty, they aren't THAT bad, but they do have their moments:-D When we first got married and if I'd say something wrong, she'd just slap me on the shoulder and say 'stop,' in that Southern draw. She still does the same thing today with one small difference....instead of a little slap on the shoulder....it's now a sock full of rolled quarters:cry Yeah, Southern women have come a long wayroflmao They are some of the most kindest people you'd ever want to meet....just don't get them P.Oed:-o

Since most southern people are conservative, religious and believe in old fashioned "family values" I would have expected "the man of the house" to be more dominant and the girls to be more subservient than liberal gals from up north.

Actually Rikky you're pretty much right about those three things you mentioned. However, the South is changing and that was the 'Old South,' of which a lot of it still exists, but it has changed. True, most are still religious, conservative and they do believe, strongly, in family values. But the 'dominant' male and the 'subservient' female is pretty much a thing of the past. Southern women, from my perspective, have become more independent and no longer 'need' a man to run things. And, in the scheme of things today, that IS a good thing. A good example of the 'Old South' dominant\subservient way of doing things is that when the husband would die, the woman was, basically lost. No skills, never had a job and has no clue on how to make a living for herself, or her children. So the woman became independent and us men have lived in hell ever sinceroflmaoroflmao

Not really for a Southern girl. Applies to any and all. b4_and_after_marrige.jpg

I'm pretty sure you could delete Southern and the first two scenarios and you'd get yourself most women in the 21st century if a man tells them to make sure the house is clean, the laundry is done and food is cooked. ;)

Only the confident ones who don't have to define themselves by how successful their man is, and who don't live and die by by their relationship status... ;)

Leave it to you to put it so succinctly, Mims. :-D

I'd say it would be more the confidence in themselves and not willing to take on old fashioned societal roles of women as subservient. I guess there's a few left in the world. I'm not sure they are here at MG's though.

(And YES, I know it was a joke. :p I know none of you guys would expect such a thing. ;))

I was happily single for over five years and perfectly happy with the way my life was, before I met The Guy. LOL

I never understood the whole thing about staying with someone just because it's so humiliating/terrifying to be alone... Grow a spine and quit being pathetic. :p

...I just have to perform both roles of the household. If I don't cook, I go hungry; if I don't clean, I live in dirt; if I don’t work, I’m broke. Oh well, times haven't changed a lot for me. As for being southern, since I'm 'down under', I guess I'm more southern than most of ya.:-D Now to tend to my Wallaby stew and Gum leaf grits.roflmao

My wife, before she became ill, did most of the housework and such because she wanted to. I'd do what I thought was my fair share, as we both work and it is only fair such chores be shared. She accuses me of being "clutter-blind" and would usually continue cleaning a room after I had declared it "clean". LOL She's not actually a southern gal, but she does spring from southern stock!

We do have various chores that we both always do - I don't mind sweeping the carpets (we have pets, so this is done at least 3 times a week). It's pretty much like mowing the lawn . . . but I am in a temperature controlled environment and there is a greatly reduced danger of amputation! Win-win situation. She on the other hand, does (or did) the laundry, which I hate doing.

Now she isn't able to do as much, and I have come to realize how little I used to actually contribute to the household chores . . . I feel bad about it. Now I will perforce make up for that past lack.

Well, my wife doesn't consider me a 'foreigner,' but more of a 'damn Yankee:-D' According to her, a Yankee is one that comes to the South for a visit, but a Damn Yankee is one that comes South and stays!!:-D

She is an excellent cook though, and that makes up for any other "strangeness" she might have! :) ;) :cool :drool

Well, let me tell ya about those ole boys

They'll never stay home and they're always alone
    Even with someone they love
Cowboys ain't easy to love and they're harder to hold
And they'd rather give you a song then diamonds or gold
Lonestar belt buckles and old faded Levi's each night begins a new day
And if you don't understand him and he don't die young
    He'll probly just ride away
