Ok, I'm ditching the old pc and going with a new laptop.

    Heres what I need/want:

    (1) A large screen or large as laptops go: 17 inch diagonal or more.

    (2) The latest in wifi card and support. I'm wirless DSL at house and office. I want a good/great wifi connection.

    (3) The ability to burn music and video CDs

    (4) A good graphix card; one that will do movies really well. I don't game.

    (5) Windows 7 (is this a good idea??)

    Heres what I do....

    (1) some small business bookkeeping

    (2) On line a lot, for everything. Surfing, I like fast surfing....

    (3) burn some music, would like to watch movies

    (4) would like a good enough sound card to use the potential in a good set of exteral speakers.

    (5) would like a jack for those wirless roaming things that Verizon offers through their phone service (which I have ) I don't know what its called....

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

I have no fear of buying used if there is something out there thats a good deal. Or direct from Dell etc....

I've bought three laptops off of ebay in the last 3 years and always done well but, I'm shooting in the dark here because I don't know what the latest deal is in laptop hardware and since this if for me, I'd like something nice. I'm writing here on an old insperion 8600 and its still a great little laptop. Has a 16 inch screen.

    Any thoughts or help appreciated.

    regards, mitch

    theefool,

Your post must have been a joke. I don't call $2000 to $4000 as "inexpensive" for a laptop.

You must have missed the: :-D

But, IMHO, $2000 would be an ideal laptop. Anything less, I wouldn't even touch.

    Ok... I forgot the budget:

I can spend up to 1k but; would also like some suggestions for less.

Lets say from 700.00 to 1k
