Inserted 2 hdd's into a JBOD. While "Safely Remove Device" feature recognizes it, Windows Explorer does not.
I trekked in the BIOS but i could not discern a relevant entry.

How do i get this recognized? I did not have this problem with an internal, nor with an internal in an enclosure.

do i understand your question to mean that, even if the jbod has been functioinoing correctly then i should still expect that it might cease to function for no apparent reason?

yes i did. and i will keep you posted if you like. frankly, i am surprised that this matter is generating the interest that it has!

perhaps i can ask you a question about preparing the volumes. i can configure them as "simple volume" "spanned volume" or "striped volume." i can also configure it as a JBOD -- where both volumes are recognized as 2 distinct drives, so Vista sees 2 1TB drives -- or as BIG -- where the capacities of both volumes are concatenated, so the Vista sees the 2 1TB drives as a single 2TB drive. This results in 6 permutations; what might be the uses of each?
