    Hi,

For the last few months i have had a problem that happens after i use windows media player a few times. At the beginning its ok.

After a few plays of the media player the screen in windows player goes blue then the whole screen crashes and starts back up with very large, blury and funny display.

If i restart the pc everything is ok again and an error message comes up saying LGDispDrv is having problems or something like that.

Do i need to update the driver. i bought a new LG monitor early in the year, maybe the graphics card is too old to support the monitor?

    Any help is appreciated.

The error message that comes up when it stops displaying properly is:

'The LGDispDrv display driver has stopped working normally. Save your work and reboot system to restore full display functionality. The next time you reboot the machine a dialogue will be displayed giving you a chance to upload data about this failure to Microsoft'

Dont think its malware. I have done the read and run me first removal guide many times and also have followed the how to protect yourself from malware guide.

What LG website do i go on and how do i find the appropriate version? My version is 1.0.0.0, 15/10/07

We need the exact model of LG monitor you are using before we can point you to the driver downloads.

Let's be clear I don't think you will find a driver as such but more a specific "Colour Profile" file for your monitor:

    http://www.lge.com/us/support/product/support-product.jsp
    http://www.lge.com/us/support/produ...=documents&targetPage=support-product-profile
    Or
    http://www.lge.com/us/support/produ...=documents&targetPage=support-product-profile

Basically you find an ICM file, to install this to your PC (this is what I do in XP):
    - DL (I would save it to desktop for ease of finding) and unzip the folder
    - Right Click on a empty spot and desktop and goto Properties
    - Go to the Settings (tab) and hit the Advanced button
    - Select Colour Management (tab) and then Add (button) the ICM file for your monitor you should see something like a W2252TQ now as a Colour Profile.
    - Hit the Set as Default button and your done.

This may not solve your problem as it may be the IGP/GPU is getting hot.

I got onto LG support and they told me to uninstall the monitor driver which fixed the problem.

Is that ok to do. Do i need the driver?

Monitors should only need drivers if they have special functionality, such as touch screen input etc.

You will be fine without the drivers.

Unfortunately i thought that fixed the problem but it is now happening again. Checked again using the malware removal thread and there are no viruses???

It took a while but this has now been done. I am still having the same problem?

This sounds like faulty hardware. See what LG say about it now.

LG is saying that it is a windows problem.
