The Holidays are coming. I just ordered my Christmas music for this year. I'm sure we all have a favorite song / rendition or two. So what are yours?

If you follow my "A Fine Frenzy" thread, you'll know I'm a little nuts about the band at the moment. I follow them on twitter, & they posted this video on youtube this morning.

Normally this wouldn't be a big deal, but since I just drove 6 hours to Philadelphia to see them, & they recorded this about 30 minutes away from my house on their day off in their hotel, I'm a little offended. LOL

no vids, but i really like the old standards (Bing, Perry, Harry Connick Jr) and classic Latin/religious hymns: Adeste Fidelis, Panis Angelicus, Ave Maria (Schubert's not Gounod's), O Holy Night.

there was this one, and i could swear John Denver sang it called "Daddy, Please Don't Get Drunk This Christmas." we actually played it for my father and he didn't get it, at all. totally went over his head, even sober, but we kept playing it anyway. made christmas more fun, way back then, but no longer applies and i can chuckle about it now.

 

Just discovered an awesome new (to me) band...GOJIRA!!

Sounds kind of like Mastodon, so anyone who likes Mastodon will probably like Gojira.

btw, everyone, how does one do this? post the videos?

tell me if i'm wrong/right: i'm thinking download (if i need to) with webservice or onboard program, upload to someplace like tinypic.com, then post the tag?

also, should i only upload the flv or can i do the mpeg if i have that? i have Firefox "DownloadHelper" addon (haven't used that yet because they want $28.50USD to register their "ConverterHelper" to get rid of logo) and a couple of websites that i have used.

I will probably get shunned for this but I hate christmas music... ESPECIALLY when its played all day everyday for an entire month! :mad

 

I used to like it. Then I worked in a mall in the US for a year and a half. Now I can't stand it, ESPECIALLY not the many popped-up renditions of classic holiday songs performed by various over-sexualised teen-idol wannabes. Yuck. uke

I gotta agree, miss dyamond . . . it does get old after a couple of weeks. I have a few favs, though, that stand the test of repetition longer then the rest - Drummer Boy, Silent Night, What Child is This? . . . all older, classical versions. Takes a bit for me to sour on those

 

i totally agree, dyamond. i also detest the "canned/pop" stuff that they play in every store, mall, restaurant, etc. makes me want to ask them to shut it off.

i like the holiday music i like and i DON'T play it 24/7. i listen to the ones i like, a few times, then go back to my regular stuff.

 

@ mladyraven: of all the songs (all types) that are among my favorites, Ave Maria, with Panis Angelicus coming in a close second, is at the top of my list. i can sing them or listen to them all day long.
