Weird media key issues in Win7

Running win7 X64 Ultimate, just did a new install, moving from the RC to the full fat version.

Everythings ok except for a couple niggles.

1 - Steam wouldn't install correctly. Fixed this eventually by copying over the program folder.

2 - The media keys on my Logitech G11 only work if the application is in focus, or if I'm in Firefox, or if I'm on the desktop. If say, windows Live messenger is the focused application, the media keys do nothing.

I'm using foobar2k and I've doublechecked to make sure the shortcuts are set as global hotkeys, but still no luck.

Do you have the Logitech drivers for your keyboard installed?

If so, is there an option you can change to get the result you want?

Its done this both with drivers installed and not, and on the previous install with the RC, they worked fine...theres no such option in the logitech software to alter this anyway.

So if you have Firefox and Windows Media Player open, and Firefox in the foreground, the media keys for Media Player will not work?

No, if firefox is open then foobar will skip tracks and the media keys work fine.

But if I then start talking to someone using Live Messenger, the keys will be non-functional until I minimise or close the window.

Sorry for the bump, but I'm still struggling with this.

Does this happen with any other program or just live messenger?

So far I've only confirmed it with live messenger, but it may do it with other programs too. I've noticed that the volume control doesn't work in borderlands for example, though skipping tracks DOES.
