Possible Sysguard and other problems

I've been having strange issues since a random popup came up- the kind that I normally just "x" out of and continue. Obviously this was wrong and I've learned the valuable lesson that clicking anything is the fastest way to get infected. I didn't know where to begin until this weekend Spybot finally gave me a clue. It "encountered and terminated a process that is listed as part of a malicious software" The filename was uuxdsysguard.exe, identified as Win32.Fakealert.ttam.

That's when I came here and found your excellent tutorial for removing this malicious crap. I just went through the whole process and the various tools did indeed find some issues. Now I'm here to find out if there is anything else I need to do to make sure I've been cleaned. Combofix found a rootkit and that really concerned me. I haven't had to reboot since combofix did all of it's stuff and since then Windowblinds isn't running with my former scheme. I'm assuming this will revert back once I restart. I'm just listing this here in case it's symptomatic of another issue.

In case it matters I'm using a Sony Vaio VGC-ra820g running Windows Media Center.

Logs attached. Unfortunately I assumed that Combofix would store its log somewhere for me to look at later. And since I had to close the instructions page I didn't realize that it wouldn't automatically do that. If it helps it did say that a rootkit was detected. As it was running it also had to turn off CD emulation. Unless it saves one where I haven't looked I feel like an idiot for not saving it.

Not a bump, but an update and more information.

Restarted after turning AVG back on. The windowblinds issue is back to normal so no problem there.

One thing I forgot to mention and it's probably important- one of the problems I was noticing is that Windows was giving me a security alert in the tray telling me that I didn't have an antivirus installed. I don't remember how long it's been showing this alert, but at least as long as I've been having the issues that brought me here to begin with. This problem still persists even after making sure it's turned on.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

The log is right where the instructions said it would be: C:\combofix.txt

We need this log to continue.

Have you installed Daemon Tools, Alcohol or anything similar? If yes, is it a legal license copy. ComboFix believes files related to one of these are infected. It said the below:
    Code:
    c:\windows\System32\Drivers\a347scsi.sys . . . is infected!!
    c:\windows\System32\Drivers\d347prt.sys . . . is infected!!

You need to uninstall any of those programs if installed.

Also for your problem with no AV being detected, uninstall AVG9 and then reboot and delete the two above files if they still exist.

Now we need to use ComboFix
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it has expired or need to be updated to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box into it:
    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below
    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Now run Ccleaner. Only use the Run Cleaner button. Do not run anything else on any other forms.

Now download the current version of MGtools and save it to your root folder. Overwrite your previous MGtools.exe file with this one.

Run MGtools.exe ( Note: If using Vista make sure UAC is still disabled. Also don't double click on it, use right click and select Run As Administrator )

    Now attach the below log:
    • C:\ComboFix.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!
