I used to own one, a simple MP3 player
I'd connect the USB cord, drag/drop music files on it, and was all set to go

now it seems I cannot find a MP3 like this? where do I find this?
I dont want updates or have to connect to the server stuff. I dont need anything complicated, just the basic MP3 player..
    any suggestions?
I dont like The IPOD stuff as I've played with one and it requires Itunes and is not an easy drag/drop player
I've tried Philips Go Gear and it's the same way, I think, I had such issues with even getting it to work, when I called them for support, they finally sent me a new one, so I have 2 of them I dont use!
    sheesh
    I just want something simple...
    thanks

SanDisk Sansa players are drag and drop. Note: I don't own one.

    crap!
I got this now and it's so nice and easy, I dont have a strap to carry it on my arm, but it's what I wanted,. I prefer actual buttons over a gizmo that you can change volume/selection by sliding your finger on it(like an IPOD) but it's interface is nice

    PROBLEM
I can get an answer here faster than anywhere and here the answer will actually help me!
I left it charging (plugged into my USB port overnight) now it's unplugged and the screen still shows "CONNECTED" on it and I can't access any other screen!
Ive tried turning it off/on and pressed every button on it, and even tried reconnecting it and unplugging it!
    what do I do?

Sounds like its broke?I'd return it and get this anyway:-D This is what I have and its awsome,it has drag and drop,a million different intelligent shuffle functions, you can play videos even movies, clock, radio, you can customize the menu with your own background images ect.

Its SONY so the build and sound quality are amazing and its really tough,I've abused the hell out of mine and it hasn't stuttered.

Have you tried holding the power button for several seconds, until the player turns off? You should be able to turn it back on again afterwards and use it as normal. Just move the power button to "on" and hold it, and keep holding... it's the Sansa way of making a soft reset and can fix these kinds of lock-ups. I've done it a couple of times on my Clip, and on my Sansa Fuze as well.

For the record, the Clip might be the most outstanding gym player ever. The fact it clips to a shirt sleeve or collar, the actual buttons that makes it easy to control... and of course the sound quality. If you haven't already, replace the stock ear buds with some quality ones, and enjoy the outstanding sound quality. :)

And Rikky, I can do all that on my Fuze, and it was cheaper, and has a microSDHC slot for memory expansion. :p

Ooooooh!,Bring it on link me to your model:) Mine has a freakin graphic equaliser and a screen saver.

And most importantly I've never had to hold the power button to make mine work :p

Why would you want a screensaver instead of the screen turning off? :confused

Main argument against both my Fuze and your Sony is that the OP wanted a simple player. Drag, drop, volume and power, and there's no point in him paying for tons of extra features that he'll never use and never wanted.

The screen turns into a low power black background white clock screensaver after 10 secs, after another 30 secs the screen turns off.

You can adjust both times just like a PC,this is how I have it set up so I can keep track of time but you can set it so just the screen turns off.

Well I still recommend the SONY walkman for build quality and reliability alone, its simple if you want it simple but had features there if you want them later on,and most people do.

That's funny, I recommend the Sansa Clip for the same reasons. LOL

In the end, it's all about personal preference anyway. Or rather, it should be. Down with the iPod dominance! :guns
