which might be ok, if the sender weren't "Hotmail team (melbournehorsegreen@yahoo.com)" !!

yep, nothing says "Windows Live Team" more than "melbournehorsegreen"....on a YAHOO account, no less....

man, can't they even TRY to make sense on these things?!

Sadly some novice PC users do get taken in by these types of spam and dont think to look at who the senders email is.

Sadly enough also there are still a lot of people that are not PC literate, in fact there are still people out there that haven't even got a computer yet, and unfortunately for them they will in the near future, and those are the people that will get scammed as soon as they log on to a hotmail account or any email account for that matter !

That's a great idea! I just got a very good offer from a reputable bank in Nigeria. all we have too do is invest the modest amount of $3,000 and they will handle everything for us. Just PM me your bank information and I'll set up everything with them. LOL

You joke about bringing up a scam for free money and no taxes. Well I play online poker and people are giving and sending and tring to PM you to scam you for real money. And many people do. I just seen someone go to a table of game.. say there a professional poker player(they say hes blah blah) and if they give him 1,000 dollars then he will then send it to this other poker pro. Which is why so amazing why send money when its not someone you dont know!? Why send it to someone just because they say this!? Why send anything to anyone even if there a (pro)?! I said the response that the poker pro (blah blah) pays 1,000 blinds in the game each hand delt.. so what is a small 1 grand going to do? Anyways guy got some of his money back after an investigation but looks like a real idiot irl and online now for this.

i'm not questioning the whole spam industry, just why they'd use an inane ID like melbournehorsegreen.

if the whole ID's spoofed anyways, why doesn't every last one of them look like "Support@Hotmail.com" or "CustomerService@MSN.com"??

Melbourne Horse Green?! what is that, a polo club?!

Random email generators and they just think that they may slip under the radar, they do in some cases but the tech savvy catch those quickly.

Heck, I just received an email informing me that I won 530,000 sterling pounds. So I bought a ticket to fly over to England and get it after the Holidays. But before I pick it up I'm going to buy a new car for each of my kids and take them and their kids to Disney for a week or two. Them I think I'll take a week off and spend it in Aruba, maybe hire one of Tiger's women to accompany me.

This is great! I just love my email treasure! I am sooo lucky!;)

Theres a pretty sad intervention show on tv called Intervention rolleyes Anyways theres a guy on there that worked his butt off and got hurt in life and got put on some good pain pills. Then he turned into a person being scammed. And while the cameras were there he was receiving calls from (what sounded like an american american guy) and they said he won money and needed to send money to receive this big money he won. Well over the years he spent over 500 grand of savings and money on those scams.. and lost everything.

It depends which scam it is but most are way below 1% but its doesn't matter because its almost free to send emails,a lot are small scams with small payouts.

Then there are really personal cons where a lot of work is invested in a single person by many different people over a long period, these have a high percentage payout and try to milk a single person for everything they have really high success rates once a victim has been selected.
