Holy surprises, Batman!

Warning: Sappy Christmas-type story ahead! LOL

So...my desktop died t'other day. Knew it was coming, and lord knows it's older than the hills, but it still sucks. I'm stuck on my 6-year-old laptop until I can afford to get it fixed (it's beyond my capabilities when it can't find the corrupt system file on the OS disk to repair the install), which as we know from my medical adventure is not very bloody likely to be any time soon. I asked my "boss" at the site where I post news if I could cut back to one post a day from two since the laptop bogs down and what used to take 20 minutes now takes over an hour.

He responded that it was no problem, but that as a surprise he's been building me a new system. He intended to ship it to me after CES, but that he'll be shipping it to me as soon as he can instead. As a surprise. Because, and I quote, "It's the least I can do for you." Holy ****. I immediately burst into tears. How could I not? Easily the coolest, most unexpected thing ANYONE has EVER done for me, and the timing is impeccable.

 

Do you think he's doing a bit of sucking up after all the sh*t he gave you earlier on in the year, because it certainly sounds like it !

 

Even if it is,Rusty, still a nice gesture on his part. And sounds like pretty good timing to boot.

Sure is NICE to get a super surprise now and then, isn't it? You must have been a good girl. Your old 'puter couldn't have picked a better time to crater, right?

LOL I forgot, I know how it works, but y'all don't! LOL

This isn't my actual job, just a volunteer thing I do posting news (read: product reviews from various sites) on another tech site. I've been doing it a little over a year. He's not really my boss, which is why I put it in quotes, he owns the site. Their version of MA. :-D But he didn't have anything to do with anything in my actual job I've talked about any time, so no groveling is necessary whatsoever. This is out-of-the-blue, no reason for it, COOLNESS! :-D

As for actual work, since they denied my workers comp claim I'm back doing hockey games whenever our AHL team is in town. Got three last week, but nothing more now until after Christmas. It's the only work I can do since I'm still trapped on crutches.

 

That makes it even nicer. :cool

He's just a REALLY nice guy! He claims it's the least he can do for me helping him on the site...I think he's off his rocker because I really don't do all that much. The thing that floors me is he was already building it for me before mine died. But I'll definitely post specs! I'm waiting on pins and needles to find out what I'm getting. :-D

Funny you should mention cookies...he was the one who got me a brand new PSU from Cooler Master when mine blew up earlier this year, so I sent him a couple dozen. LOL I'll surely have to do that again, especially being that I know exactly what kind he likes now. :-D
