Hi, I had some problems with my windows xp sp3, so I went to windows repair.

After that, my USB mouse won't work. I tried another mouse, but the problem remains.

I tried pluging it in to different ports but with no success.

If someone knows how to solve this problem, I can offer him to connect to my computer using remote control (www.teamviewer.com). Using a remote control from another computer I can control the mouse.

Just to mention a few more facts:
    1) the red light underneath the mouse is turned on, like it is working normally
    2) if I plug in the mouse after the pc enter into windows, then the light doesn't turn on.
    3) pc is malware and sypware and *ware free

    Greetings, skajic...

    A few quick questions:

    1. What does your USB section look like in Device Manager? If you've got motherboard drivers handy, you might try uninstalling anything USB-related, rebooting, and if Windows won't reload the USB, you can fire up the mobo disk...

    2. Does the mouse work or not in Safe Mode?

    3. What type of mouse? It may need its own software...

    4. Can you roll back to a pre-SP3 state, see if that changes your symptoms? Or, reinstall SP3, since that's when the problem first appeared?

    1. I'll answer this one in a minute.

    2. It does not work even in safe mode. Altough on another windows installation (on another partition) works fine in safe mode and in normal mode.

    3. It is standard Logitech usb mouse. I know it does not require it's own software because i previously made another windows installation on another partition, and the mouse was working fine even during the installation with no extra software on drivers. Also i can plug this mouse on any other pc and it will work fine with no extra software needed.

    4. I can't roll back. System restore is turned off.

That changes things - the fact that the device works in another partition environment leads me to believe that it's not a hardware problem...

I'd key on the SP3 - you might try uninstalling/reinstalling the service pack...

Hmm.. the problem occured after I reinstalled the windows (windows repair).
If I update using windows update (all the updates) then windows won't boot and I need to enter safe mode and restore windows in previous sate. (I create restore point before updating).
Do you think PS2 mouse would work ?
