The new year 2010 is around the corner, and it's time to make new year's resolution. My resolution:
    -no hotheaded shopping
    -more patience
    -lose weight:-D

13 more days to go. I gave up on resolutions.

My resolution is to keep in touch with people and generally be more social, lots of people i know annoy me so i tend to avoid gatherings (the real problem is unless you spin at 5200RPM or do millions of calculations per second i'm not really interested in you tbh :D )

Well, about the only thing I resolve to do is to have a better year than this one, because '09 sucked harder than a Texas tornado, t.b.h.

Erm, wouldn't that be 2011?:confused:p:-D You're almost there this time around the sun.;):-D

Oh, edit here to stay on topic. I don't bother to make resolutions either, I'll either change now or I won't. The artificial pressure of a certain date works against one.

nah Augie, need to get to end of this year first before thinking of 2011!

But resolutions like you I dont make as I never and I dont think if 90% of the population or responders to this thread where truthful ever make them happen, they seem a good thing at the time, but actioning them is another story.

I would like to see both of you do that. because , the alternative is a killer, believe me.. I know, I know, you have heard it thousands of times.. But just posting it is a huge step, guys... Give it one more try! Hey, if Oma can do it, so can you two!;) That is what I would really like to see. Sure beats dragging an oxygen tank around with ya.... Come on... What do you say?

@ ~Q~, This is the ONE time you can be proud of being a quitter!;)

Q & iwunderdownunder, got plenty of support here and some quitters as well. I smoked for about 40 years, it's around 10 years since I quit, that and had a the upper lobes of my lungs removed.
    Don't wait until there's a serious condition.

Notice the new years resolution to lose weight is after Christmas and boxing day feasts and all the Christmas chocolate and after dinner deserts, loads of people do that, put on 10lbs over Christmas then just lose the 10lbs they put on waiting to be resolute on new years day.

Just start dieting now then you might actually lose some real weight :)

EDIT most are like this really,no hot headed shopping, after you've blown all your money over Christmas, quit smoking and drinking after you do the equivalent of sucking on a car exhaust smoking 2 packs a day over Christmas and drinking so much you had to go into surgery to have gall bladder removed.

My resolution is to stop treating women as sexual objects after I've tried to sleep with every girl at the Christmas/New year party, fathered three children and filled four hard drives with indecent images.

I need to put ON 40-60 pounds in weight in 2010.

Any ideas? Bearing in mind that I have diabetes, so too much sugary stuff is out.

Plenty of diets to lose weight, not too many to GAIN weight. ;)

Well, I didn't have any resolutions until I wrenched my knee a week ago which would have had way less damage if I had had 100 fewer pounds on it. So I've already started my lifestyle change, trying to adapt the food I love to smaller portions and less calories along with curtailing my imbibing copious quantities of brew on a daily basis.

I figured it was close enough to the New Year to count it as a resolution. However, I really hope I didn't jinx myself by calling it by that name as most folks flunk out after 6 weeks or so.:-D

That's a tough one Baz. I've always been thin so loosing just 5 lbs can make a difference. When I was in the hosp for surgery they gave me protein shakes with every meal.

I live on protein shakes :D The best is mixing Vanilla whey with strawberry/banana smoothie!

mmm that sounds good, I usually through in a banana too. The first time I got the egg protein and it made me sick, now I use whey. I mix my protein powder in soy because my cholesterol is high, why I don't know, I don't eat meat or dairy.

Well I do know protein is a muscle builder, not fat, and muscle weighs more then fat.
Were you sick and lost a lot of weight, if you don't mind me asking?

Re: What's your new year's resolution?

I was sick and lost 40kgs (88 pounds) over 2 years. Went from bigbazza to notsobigbazza :-D Last April all things compounded and I started being admitted to hospital. Low blood pressure and dizziness when standing up, loss of muscle tone and diabetes all at once did not help. Eventually the dizziness was solved by tablets. My blood had to be thinned out (by Warfarin daily) and various exercises helped get some muscle tone back. Still need to put a lot of weight back on, though.

Feeling better now, but still a lot of work to be done.

    Thanks darlene1029. :)
I don't consider myself a "poor man". Some of this I bought upon myself by a typical man's stubborness (and stupidity) by not going to the doctor earlier.
