I have searched and searched but not understanding what applies to my issue. Is this an "autorun" issue or an active desktop issue or a mountpoints2 issue?
When I double click on any of my desktop icons, nothing happens. Right clicking drops a menue and I can select open. That works.

When I am in Outlook Express 8 and doule Click on a message to get it to open in a new page, nothing happens.

I have xp media center with SP3
    Please help!

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.
    Nothing downloaded recently.
Did a couple of antivirus scans.
    Will try the defrag.
    Thanks

BagelAnne, I wonder if your double-click setting has gotten corrupted somehow. Try resetting it by going into Windows Explorer, Tools, Folder Options, and on the General page, go down to "Click items as follows," and change the setting, shut down, re-boot, and then change the setting back to "double-click." If that doesn't do the trick, in that same location, you may have to restore the default settings, shut down, re-boot, and restore all of your settings -- hopefully the problem will be solved before you have to do all of that!

I just found out that My brother did "something" to the mouse settings.
He set the double click speed to the highest level.
I reset it and now all is working.
Thanks too all who trouble shot with me!

    Brother, how 'bout that?

Most of the problems I see with computers comes from other users on the person's computer.

Once I was cleaning a computer with the owner sitting there. She asked me if all the problems I was fixing were her fault. I told her, put it this way, if she had never turned on the computer since bringing it home, it wouldn't need any work right now.

Set him up with a user account with limited privileges.

Caliban I don't need no steenkin' title!

Ain't that the truth! I've been working on computers since the mid-'70s (dating myself, here), and I've never known a computer to make a mistake...

BagelAnne, there's a cool little app from Microsoft, part of the PowerToys package, called TweakUI, that you might want to look at - among other things, it gives complete control over mouse click speeds...

Don't care for double clicking myself.
Always set for single click to open.
