It's a "good day" for the enthusiast crowd as AMD is back with a vengeance and getting 6.6GHz clocks:

    AMD 965 C3 on LN2 @ 6667MHz.

This is fantastic news as we have some real competition in the market place again. It should "push R&D" and hopefully "create aggressive pricing competition" between the 2 players as AMD tries to wrestle the "performance crown" and therefore the lucrative enthusiasts sector from Intel.

Nice!! I am a fan of the one that is fastest for the best price. AMD has been pretty quiet lately.

Ya, but does it do virtual cores like the i7? BTW, does LN2 mean liquid nitrogen?:eek

Yes LN2 is Liquid Nitrogen and it will take hardware to -180C+, as the thread indicates most Intel will suffer a cold bug (the CPU will completely shut down and not power on until warmed up again and sometimes system dismantled and dried out with a hair dryer but by then your LN2 has all turned to gas) whereas this beast didn't seem to suffer this phenomenon.

Dry Ice (CO2) and Acetone is a budget run and will get CPUs down to -50-60C.

I have no idea about AMD CPUs but it is indicated to be quite a bit simpler than OC the current Intel I7s.
