According to my calculations, it is based on central time. Or can somebody from either coast or the Rockies tell me that is sensitive to the time zone of the viewer?

    Hi Brandy

Its local time to your time zone, as in UK going this it comes up as 5hrs 30min left to midnight, which is correct, give or take a few seconds now as I have been typing this out.

Okay, anybody out there, or in here, from a place where the NY has already arrived?

Halo, I saw your Australian colonies celebrate early this morning on the news.

Yep the Aussies do put on a great show on the Harbour Bridge in Sydney, must look on TV later to see if London is doing anything (weather permitting) dont think where I'm from does too much these days, maybe some fireworks in city or if wind is right many of the ships in the port do blast off their horns, but as I'm 10miles from the port not always hear it.

What I was trying to find out was what does the google clock say in a part of the world already in the new year.

Guess they're all in bed, hungover most likely.

Yes likely well fueled up with booze and vino :)

If I'm awake later will try and post what it says here, likely just Google wishes you a Happy New Year and one of those Google images on the logo with fireworks etc

"They" say over 1 million people watched the Sydney fireworks (around Sydney) and many more million around the World. New Zealand is one of the first countries to welcome in a New Year (around 2 hours earlier than the East coastal cities of OZ). Not sure about daylight saving time in NZ, though.
