Can someone hack just your ip address in a forum?

    Question. There is a forum i visit, and when i click on a particular thread, i get a warning from google chrome that the website has a virus. it ONLY happens on this particular thread, and only at the last page of the thread, but what gets me is, OTHER forum members can access the whole thread apparently without receiving this warning because i see updated and current postings to the thread. Is it possible that a website administrator can SET a thread to hack just YOUR ip address, to try and track you, and not others? here is a link to a discussion about the originating url of the hack from another board discussing it:

    If this were true, then the problem is with the website/page you are accessing and you should not go there. It could just be a false detection from Chrome. It may just have advertisements that they find to be questionable.

    What makes you positive they don't get a warning? Also how do you know that they are not just using a different browser and perhaps do not have the problem you see with Chrome. Try IE and see what happens.

    The administrators already have your IP. They see it each time you log in and the software normally keeps a record in its database on all IP addresses you use to login.
