I have already setup to share my printer wireless with my laptop and it is working fine, however the Laptop is getting an access denied when it comes to getting the shared folder, even though it has automatically into the "my network connections" on my laptop. I have tried turning off the simple file sharing in folder options, and even disabling my windows firewall. I have also looked at a number of microsoft articles, still need help.....

When I go to the laptop, in my network places i go to the network, look under the desktop and I can see the shared folder there, I click on it and it says

\\xxxxx\documents is not accessible. You might not have permission to use the network resources. Contact the adminstrator of the server to find out if you have access permissions

Not enough server storage is available to process this command.

Once again, i have already connected the printer wirelessly without a problem.

I am trying to share a folder on my despktop with the laptop. Both are using Win XP. I have not mapped any drives (There were no instructions that said to do so), I have not set any permissions and I checked the box in my windows firewall enabling file and printer sharing.

I am already sucessfully sharing the printer wirelessly with the laptop. And I am able to see the laptops shared folders through my network connections in explorer.

ONLY problem, I am not able to view the dektop's shared folder on the laptop.

Re: Sharing Folders With Wireless router

I did not need to set permissions since the simple file sharing box is checked in folder options..

What is the IP address of the desktop system?

Go to START > RUN and type \\your desktop IP address - and what do you see?

It opens a window with the shared documents folder, a shared printer, another shared printer called "printer1" which is the printer that I am sharing with the laptop and a printer and faxes icon. When clicking the shared documents folder it says I may not have permission and not enough server storage..

IF I turn off simple file sharing in folder options then when I go to the laptop and try to access the same folder it asks me for a user name and password, i try the user name and password for my desktop but that doesnt work..

Very good.......now another simple question. Are both of your machines in the same workgroup? Go to MY COMPUTER and right click and select properties and go to the COMPUTER NAME tab and see what workgroup each machine is on. It is interesting that the folder you want to share is not showing up......perhaps you didn't SHARE it correctly?????

BTW....when you enter the user name as you did in the previous example, type user name as <machine name>\<user name> ex. homecomputer\administrator

Yes we are on the same workgroup.
For the previous example, you mean if i turn off simple file sharing and that login box appears?? Then what should be my password?

Yes, both the laptop and the desktop are on the same workgroup. If you meant put 'homecomputer" as the sign in name and administrator as the password, then yes it works... I can access the the printers, like I said, but when I click on documents (which is my shared folder on my desktop) I get the following error message.

    >>>>>\\Homecomputer\documents is not accessible. You might not have set permissions to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

Not enough server storage is available to process this command.<<<<<

Go to the machine where you have the share established and check the system event log right after you try to access the share and see if there is an error there.

Got it, it says that my IRPStacksize is too small....

I have came accross this (http://winhlp.com/node/40) article, and it ends up that I have do not have IRPstacksize in my registry...I have never made any changes in my registry, I am thinking that this might be the only way to fix this problem.....

The default just may not be large enough for the system you have and the software you are running on it. There are versions of applications that cause problems with the IRP stack in Lanman. Follow the articles suggestion and insert the key, doing a registry backup before you change anything, and start with a value of 20. MAke sure you are attentive to upper and lower case.

Thanks, it ended up that I had to create the IRPStackSize in my reg, and a value of 20 worked! case closed, thanks again!
