    So I was fartin' around the web this morning and bumped into this cool trick for Windows 7. If you create a new folder with a specific name and string of characters, it is magically filled with icons and shortcuts to system settings and configuration tools, some of them are normally kind of hard to access. I know everyone is dying for the folder name, so here it is:
    GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

    Enjoy!!!

    (BTW- I found this info over at the forums at pureoverclock.com)

    Made new folder and name it GodMode..... the folder is not recognized!
    What's the right way to incorporate this new trick?
    I am running Vista Home Premium 32bit

    Cool, works with Vista Home Basic! Any downsides or dangers? Is this little trick in any of the "how to" books?

    I reckon that's one of the best tips I've ever come across! :cool

    Ouch! On Vista after I created the directory, it keeps crashing my Windows explorer. I'll have to troubleshoot.

    But it's not a directory, it's just a file folder on your desktop, right?

    Funny thing is, when I right click on it and look at properties, it show 0 bytes.

    Not a general problem. My Vista Home Premium Explorer hasn't been affected.

    I have it called AdminMode, it actually doesn't matter what it's called left of the period. I left the folder in C:\ and created a shortcut for the desktop. It's good for folks who don't want to go through all the submenus in CP.

    Cool,doesn't seem like it makes a file and then fills it with handy links,it creates he folder instantly so the app or folder was always there but hidden.

    Putting useful Easter eggs in an OS kinda seems to defeat the purpose of the OS which is to make your life easier.

    I used it with Win7 X64 Home Premium and it worked perfect. I have no idea if it works the same with Vista.

    As stated above by gloozit, you simply right click on your desktop, select "New" > "Folder" and then copy-n-paste this info in to the new folder's name:

    GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

    Apparently, you can change "GodMode" to say whatever you want, it's the stuff in the {brackets} that does the "trick".

    I'm sorry to hear that some are having problems, but I know for a fact it works OK with Win7 X64 Home Premium.....

    @ plodr: thanks for the link of other CLSIDs... interesting stuff! ;)

    @ jconstan: towards the bottom of the page at this link is some info on how to 'undo' the hack so your Explorer won't crash... I hope it helps!

    Thank you very much for the link.....I have 64 bit Vista Home Premium...and guess what the link says..

    "PS : This tweak is incompatible with 64bit version of Windows Vista." Guess I got burned....I hope the undo works :-o

    Are you running Vista 64-Bit???? There are known issues with "GodMode" and 64-Bit computing on Vista

    You are running Vista 32-Bit from what I see.

    Edit: Forget about this posting. You saw the reason why it's not running.

    In case it should help somone......

    When I built the GodMode directory, I didn't recall where I made it and was having a very hard time finding it. Windows explorer kept crashing causing even more problems. I finally got a command prompt and used the following command to find the directory.

    "dir \/A:D /S |find "God" |more"

    once the directory was found I did a RD and everything went back to normal.
