I've used the yahoo games site for years... now the game board will not load. It doesn't load on my Grandson's computer either. So...... about a week ago I started fooling around and turning off popup blockers and I go a humdinger or a virus.... something tying up my computer saying it was infected and trying to sell me spyware. Back from the computer shop and the computer is fine but I still cant load the games. The tech support page asks if I have a firewall... and saddly.. I don't even know.

How do I tell if I have a fire wall .... and which programs would you recommend. Thank you for your help.

    Happy New Year!

Moved your thread to software as you say you are no longer having malware problems since the computer came back from the shop.

What OS do you have and is your ISP providing a security suite or is it your own?
    What browser are you using.

If you have XP SP3 or higher, (Vista, W7), then in your control panel there will be an item labeled Security Center which will tell you what you have for antivirus and firewall.

If you are using IE for your browser, try going to the tools tab, then internet options, then delete all history, files, and cookies.

Sorry I hit the wrong button....

Yes I have Firewall turned on and Auto Updates turned on and I have Virus Protection with AVG Anti-Virus Free which is up to date.

It recommends that I have Windows monitor my anti virus...... This sould like the virus I just got rid off... it said you have 32 viruses and would you like to buy their antivirus/spyware now filled up my screen with pop ups.

I think I will monitor my anti virus myself .... what do you think?

Before I got the virus I removed AOL and AIM (which my grandson had recently installed) believing that perhaps AOL had installed a popup blocker that was interfearing with Yahoo Games. I also may have turned off a popup blocker that was on a menu addon.

I would like Yahoo Games to work but do not know what I did that caused the trouble. (for all I know the virus could have come in on an email) I have asked that others in the house please use their own computers....

Thank you for your help and suggestions.

    Lady,

If you are still getting this message then I strongly recommend you perform the Read and Run Me First sticky in the Malware section. It doesn't sound like your computer is clean.
