Hi i've just downloaded and scanned my system with a-squared free (i have the saved report if i need to post it), and it resulted in 28 objects being detected. I have been able to quarantine 13 and delete another 13 but two remain which it says i can neither quarantine or delete. They are:

    Trace.Directory.CarnivalCasino!A2. detected in c:\casino
    and
    Trace.Directory.Themexp.org File!A2. detected in c:\program files\themexp\themexp.org file

I have checked my c drive for both of these but cant find them.
Can anyone tell me how to go about removing them from my system?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance,
    Sean

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

a-squared suffers from lots of false postives so the detections may or may not be valid. Did you create the c:\casino folder yourself? Did you install or do you play online gambling games that this could be related to? And the themexp stuff may be just a Desktop scheme/wallpaper. Did you install any from this website? http://themexp.ezthemes.com/

hi chaslang and sorry i didnt get back to your reply a lot sooner.

yes i went off and did a bit of hunting on google and found out it had come from some "vegas casino" online site, and realised the themexp entry was for my two monitor setup.

thanks very much for your reply though!

ps i know this is completely unrelated so understand if you or no one else replies but is there any guide around here detailing how to go about creating a cd which would mean if my system went completely dead i could then put in a cd or maybe use my other hard drive and i'd have everything back exactly as it was before it completely died? and is that even possible?

sorry a completely different topic to this section i know but i've tried searching and i just get lost in all the computer terminology so i end up not knowing if what i'm reading about is what i'm after lol

i'd be extermely grateful for any help anyone could give or if someone could tell me where to post a question like this?

    cheers,
    sev

I suggest that you post in the Software Forum, but it is not that straightforward and there is a lot more to be concerned with and other possible problems (like a failed hard disk). Also no single CD/DVD can hold all the possible files on your hard disk. Also that is why backup software exists. ;)

Ok i'll try posting in there and have a look around. I've never really bothered about things like keeping my pc clean and having a safety net if it fails, but i'm about to start trading stocks full time so it's suddenly become of critical importance.

Thanks a million for your help!
