Watching Blu Ray on my PC

Ok- hubby accidently bought a DVD movie in blu ray, we don't have a blu ray dvd player and it won't play on my PC. I have an inspiron 531S AMD 64 athlon X2 that runs Vista premium.

I haven't been able to find any info on the internet about if my drive has the capability to play blu ray movies. I'm assuming it doesn't but I was hoping.

I know you probably dont want to buy into a new blu ray player just for one DVD but if you have a HD ready TV, i would certainly recommend you buying this player

(This is probably the cheapest Blu Ray player you will find, thats made by a heard of brand)

That link could be entirely useless for you, as i do not know where you are based, ie UK or US

Other people have their opinions but i really do notice a difference in HD or "Blu Ray" Dvd's to normal definition ones!

Tell the hubby he's very silly and must take the movie back and ask for a refund (any reasonable trader should acknowledge the mistake and give a refund readily).

To watch a Blu Ray movie you will need both the player and a HD Display unit (monitor, TV, etc).

 

The Blu Ray player will render HD quality movies but you need the HD monitor to display the image otherwise it will only be Standard Definition (SD). An example is I could buy a HD Set Top box (aka Tuner) to receive Digital Broadcast but because I only have an old CRT TV I can only "display" SD. So I can still get digital but not HD (I don't see all the crows feet, pimple scars, bad make-up, on the actors etc).
