Asking for a password(which I never did before) and keeps restarting. Right before that I took it back to an older restore point that was working good and that's when it came up with a different window asking for a password. I tried leaving it blank and it still will not log on. the SpyBot S&D is what gave the error for the Checksum when I was trying to up date and run the scan. The lappy was running a little slower since I got it back from my daughter but I just figured she hadn't up dated it. I did this and it still was slow. Tried to connect to the router and would not get on line. Was connected to the internet.Router worked fine with other lappy and desktop. I ran it in safe mode and it still comes up asking for a pswrd. Any ideas or suggestions?? I'm having issues with my desktop as well from the firewall but that's another placefor now my concern is the lap. If I need to scratch everything and start over, Well I don't have a cd for it.(lappy)
    Thanks

Hi BT, are you getting anywhere yet? Did your daughter have a password on it?:confused

Can you log on as admin. and over-ride the password to create a new one?

OKIE DOKIE THEN. I haven't a clue of what is going on but I now have it back up and running and I'm in the process of saving some of my stuff that I want and going to try to restore back to defaul. I have no idea as to what is going on. Right now the start button on the task bar is flashing off and on like it's trying to pop up.(I have the task bar hidden)Still refuses to load any web site to its full capacity. When I powered it up a window as before asking if I wanted to launch the repair and to restore to earlier restore point not guaranteeing that it can/will fix the problem. I did this and restarted the lappy again and it loaded. As I said it still has issues but at least it's loaded to the point I can clean it out.

Hey BT, have you had this lappy checked for "uglies"? Might not be a bad idea, to run it thru the "Malware-Uglie-Wash":-D:p

Haven't done the R&RM1rst yet but did, or let me rephrase that, tried to run Spybot and that's as far as i got before it started showing itself. If I don't loose it again (now my pic for the screen is gone and it's all light blue with the icons all scrambled around). Thanks for asking

Ok lappy is running ok so far, the only prob I have now is the Internet connection. Called Belkin and after resets and new security key pass phrase I still don't get to internet through the wireless. but wired is fine and the other lappy gets on through wireless. The tech mentioned that the wireless card is not receiving the IP and that the IP config for the wireless may have been changed. I personally did not change any config the only thing I can think of is when I was having issues with it not starting up properly. Can someone tell me how to correct this and or give some other ideas as to how to remedy this? Thank You in advance.

GIRL you get what ever you want. That didn't do it but further down that same page I started reading and came across this
The whole time I'm being told and have read that it was a good chance that the IP address and dns and the card were the problem and none of it even applied. I had the lappy sitting right next to the router so evidently it was getting interference from either the modem and the router together or the router signal was basically just bouncing back off.
