So, I very foolishly got a virus. It was one of thos Hijacker viruses. I tried to download Malwarebytes. it installed, but the file got deleted. Then, popups and popups. My dad walked in and I told him what was wrong.
    He said "Reboot"
I said "NO! this thing probably has itself wound itself so deep that it's in my startup entries."
He said "That doesn't make sense. You're probably making things up
    ."
I said "Who knows more here? Who got an 850 on their A+ practice exam"
He said "Your young. You don't know what you're talking about"
So, he pushes me and my wheelie chair aside, and holds down my netbook's power button for 10 seconds, then turns it back on.

I enter my BiOS password, and it boots up. All of my pages are hijacked. No access to task manager or msconfig.

    I needed to factory restore:cry

Sorry to hear that Dawg, though I'm sure dad meant well. *sigh* I guess it's time to start backing things up to media before daddy fix-it comes around to 'help' again when you're infected(or just don't tell him). ;) I'm sure he's a good man otherwise.:) Better yet, just do the backups irregardless of the familial situation, that's always the best bet.;)

No, you didn't... we deal with these infections everyday and could have saved your loss of recent work.

I couldn't even get on the Internet. In a panic, I shut down the server to prevent a spread. So noone in the house had internet.

No friendly neighbors or friends with internet access? I hate to see such a restore causing loosing everything you hadn't backed up.

My neighbor has wifi, but we paniced. I didn't want it to spread. Plus, I didn't have that much on the HDD.

Alright Dawg, now what you need to do is get on Dad's 'puter and switch the left and right mouse buttons and wait to be asked for help.

I always disconnect from the web while "disinfecting" anyway. Can't call home for help if the door is closed on them.;):-D

I felt as though I could trust him, so I activated his account at around midnight last night. 12:30, i here a beeping sound come from the server. I swore out of anger.

    Virus Found!

    C:\Documents and Settings\James\My Documents\Videos\(you can only imagine what).wmv

So, naturally, disconnected from the internet, shut down the access points\router, virus removal, blah blah blah.

    COME ON!!!
Why does he always do this!?

Because - until you reach a certain age (and even then), he's "DAD" and will always think he's smarter than you.

Went with a gang to a hotel in Wales for an animation weekend, there were about 12 of us altogether, we arrived on Friday evening, set our machines up in a large room and went for a meal and a few drinks, after the meal we had some kind racing game competition and a lot more drinks. The serious stuff was due to start at 10am the next morning. I was up before anyone else and went to check something on my machine, this happened quite some time ago when we were all using the old ball ((mice)mouse) rodents so, for a bit of a joke I took the balls out of every ones Rodents. I had to do my own so as not to be too obvious, I eventually owned up and produced the missing balls, that’s when it back fired on me, I hadn’t realised that the balls were of different sizes IMAGINE THE CHAOS. I was about a popular as a fart in a space suit.:-D
