    Hey Guys,

I got a call a few hours ago that made my head spin, About 4 years ago I needed a urgent dental appointment due to my wisdom teeth coming through lop sided, making the pain unbearable, I got in the following day, to pull only 1 tooth, and put down on a waiting list for pulling more teeth, as well as making a guard for sleeping due to teeth grinding while I sleep, cracking teeth!

My teeth have since deteriorated, and I need urgent dental care, I got a call today saying that I have come up next on the list, to get a review of my oral care, and planning on how to fix and help my teeth, at 3:30 tomorrow arvo!

I have been waiting 4 years and completely forgot all about it, the dental system hear is obsurd! I recently found out that smoking causes gum desease and gum desease leads to heart desease, I have shocking teeth, they beg for a proper medical clean, and I smoke, which now I have cut down alot since hearing that it can lead to other issue's, since tempting fate only 8 months ago in ICU, I have a real diffirent outlook on life, for the better I think.

Anyway, how are the dental programs in your neck of the woods?

    I`d give ours a mere 2/10!

Edit: Yes I know smoking in general is not good medically, and I am leading to the path of quiting, but rather than repeat failed attempts going cold turkey, I am weening down, to quit, and will see my GP to see if I am a candidate for the medication quiting smoking meds.

EXO, I am a big fan of the cold turkey method. It sucks really bad the first few days, but after that, life gets better and better. Just my personal experience. Best of luck to you.

Hope all works out with your dental stuff as well.

Yeah I smoke since I was 13 or 14 yrs old. And I really hope I am able to quit this year. I wish I could now.. I spend 5 bucks on cigs every 2 days or 3 If I am good. Back when I had good jobs(which unemployed atm). But when I had good jobs.. Id smoke a pack a day. Anyways I to have not the greatest teeth.(Iam also in 20's) I always had bad teeth but I choose to keep them instead of going to doctor or braces as a child.(plus family was poor and mom said I could've if I wanted to). But I just figure Ill pull and get fakes lol. Anyways Here for 2 teeth to be pulled is 1,000 USA dollars.

4 YEARS?? I don't know how you can even call that a program. :cry

Quitting smoking is easy, I've done it hundreds of times. (Mark Twain)

Our dental program is GREAT! If you have insurance, anyway. Otherwise, they'll be more than happy to get you in for an appointment if you pay them before you leave. Last time I had a professional cleaning/checkup it cost me $280 (8 years ago). When I had my wisdom teeth removed, it ended up being around $3500 (17 years ago). The root canal/crown I had was just over $1500 (14 years ago).

I think it would be easier to quit smoking, than wait 4 years for a dental appointment. I don't have dental ins. either.. ;)

We get it free over here in the UK, but it is getting harder to find a decent dentist, and waiting lists are getting longer !

Packed the ciggies in about 20yr ago so i'm fighting http://bestsmileys.com/hyper/6.gif now ! :-D

With me being English and all, i was going to say " packed the fags in " :-o but i know how all your minds would work ! :-D

Non existent, it's rare that any insurance co even includes dental.
Hopefully with the new Health Care reform that's been causing such a stir here in the US it will include dental and mental health.
