Solar power to my macbook.

I would post this in the mac section of the forum but it seems no one reads that section. I am unsure how, as I understand Mac sales are at an all time high.

However that is so irrelevant and I believe anyone may be able to help me.

I am soon to deploy to afghan and I have bought my second mac (macbook pro) to take with me. I have one slight problem which will be power.

Can anyone give me some ideas of solar powering a Macbook. I have looked into the wattage of a macbook pro and it is around 80 watts.

So if anyone could tell me a good product that would give me the best power outage while I am out there then I would be very grateful.

Get a car battery while you're there. see if you can "borrow" one from the "motor pool" .. You can buy a solar power kit to charge the car battery and run your lappy off that. Don't forget the trickle charger so you don't over charge.

If you can't get a car battery. .see about rigging up a UPS (Uninterrupted power supply) to charge off the solar panel.

That would work and I would need some kind of converter to transfer the current. However I will be working in some remote locations that will have no access to vehicles and the only way I can move will be by helicopter.

A car battery would be amazing but I will already be carrying over 100 lbs and don't really want to add another 25 lbs to it (if not more)

I need some thing that is compact and will do the job.
