I am in the market now to get an i7 920 D0 and was wondering which DDR3 RAM I should get for OC'ing? Would it be RAM @ 8-8-8-24 or RAM @ 9-9-9-24 I could never understand that difference.:confused

What about a mobo? I'm an ASUS man but I've had issues OC'ing this thing, P5Q-PRO. I would like a dual or triple-headed X58 PCI-E slots mobo that I could easily OC or with a bit of sweat equity.;) I've heard that Gigabyte are good.

If there's something that I've missed then please let me know.

Thanks for any help for this n00b.:)

Go for the RAM @ 8-8-8-24, its always good to have ram that's stock at tighter timings. You can always loosen the timings to get higher clocks if need be. I'm not sure I get what you mean by triple-headed. :confused

Thanks for that. So tighter means smaller numbers, that's perfectly dumbed down for me.LOL

I just meant that I'd like to stuff the mobo with three or four vid cards so same # of PCI-E slots. I want to build a monster that will last me a long time and under heavy 24/7 use.:droolhttp://www.overclockers.com/forums/images/smilies/slvr.gif

I would recommend a single powerful video card as compared to SLI. From my experience SLI is more trouble then its worth. If your into hard core gaming or benchmarks its great but its just annoying for 24/7 use in my experience. But that's more of a preference thing.

It'll mainly be for folding and occasional gaming so no SLI.
