Last night, my PC was find. Then a message appeared that "Your PC is infected by a virus, Click here to download the anti-virus to clean up." I figure, "Yeah, right!! I'm not going to download it for them." Ran Spy-bot and cleaned out two trojans and a malware. It was late so, instead of running the anti-virus (Panda) I powered it off. Today it goes to login, then a second later logs off. I even tried powering off, so I could get into safe mode to run 'cureit'...no go. I get no messages, it just loops login to log off, etc.

Is there a way to load an anti virus onto a cd and hope it will run from boot? I can use esc and f10 when the PC first powers on.

    What happened?

You can always try doing a repair installation that may correct some bad system files.

    Hey there,

An elder geek once informed me of an application called Fprot which is apparently as old as the hills but doesnt need an o.s to run what it does exactly I cant confirm but I believe he said it was for malware removal without a bootable O.S and its based on or goes way back to d.o.s days

I use Ultimate boot CD a virtual CD XP operating system with antivirus software, this will allow to access a drive providing it hasnt any issues.

Have a look at the website, and your windows key on the side of the case to verify if it is an oem variant of XP, F-prot does have a download for 32bit and also a variant for oem builds. http://www.f-prot.com/ there may be a fee involved check it out and see if its right for you.
