Sad a volunteer like Dr. M has to deal with things like this, but kudos in the manner he handled it; true professionalism.

One of the biggest pratfalls of the internet in general and message boards in particular: whether you seek help, offer help or are simply expressing an opinion, you can come across as a total a$$ yet guarantee your anonimity and avoid any reciprocal actions by simply closing your browser.

 

Dr. M ,Kestrel, and all other malware fighters have my sympathy for having to put up with that type of behaviour.
I could not, and would not, have had that type of patience.Nor would I have taken it for as long.

I thought Id get some elbows thrown at me for posting this. Usually can be consider starting useless stuff but... I mean some threads you read and just wanna say something. And I appreciate the Malware and everybody that gives there free time to others to help and fix and making sure they understand. Also I just think some people don't understand and realize that we are a trustworthy site and community here.

 

Well, as Kes said, the person can always take it into a shop and we all know what that means eh? REFORMAT!!!! roflmao

It's really too bad that the member doesn't understand, perhaps a reinstall would be the best advice in this circumstance, though that's always my last option, if the member actually had an infection which is in doubt ATM.

 

Almost as if the whole purpose was to argue, as fast as things changed.

 

Well not just that thread alone. I am Just amaze as people that sign up and it looks like they dont even read a sticky or anything. They sign up post Hijackthis logs or the people, also the threads where they dont want to follow with posting logs for help..and they do some cleaning programs (then they say there all clean thanks for the help) and few days later come back posting saying its back :-D Then they get it and post the logs then, also finally the people that just simple dont want to try to clean and reformate.. which can cause some good amount of money...Normal computer places charge 80 dollars just for reformat and then they try to put anti virus on your computer and charge you for that at the end rolleyes

 

Not too good at "copy and paste" myself, but before I even sat down to a keyboard to go online, I did a LOT of studying on computers and the ailments so I could stay "clean".
Must be doing something right. Haven't been a patient in the Malware infirmary yet.
(Hopefully, never will be.)

 

I admire the patience shown by Dr M, Kestrel, and all the geeks here who try and help strangers with their computer problems . . .

I think I may have said this before...

The Malware fighters here on MGs are super-heroes in disguise. They put up with tons of crap, stupidity, and indescribable amounts of entitlement and whininess, just because they want to help people. No matter how much praise we give them, it won't be enough for all the hard work they do.

That said, the person Moriarty was dealing with in that thread is the reason there is such a thing as paid tech support - so volunteers like Moriarty and Kes won't have to put up with this kind of shit. Because they shouldn't have to.
