Fan for a sony Vaio pcg-k45 cooling unit.

I need a fan for a Sony Vaio pcg k45 cooling unit, But the fans aren't the same size, one is a bit bigger. There are entire cooling units on sites such as ebay for 40 dollars and up, but i already have 2 cooling units, just no fans, I need one fan. I don't wanna have to pay 40 dollars just for a fan.

Any ideas where i can find such a fan and not pay an arm and leg for it??

I've got a sony pcv out in the shop. I don't know what you mean by cooling unit, but you're welcome to any of the fans in it for the price of postage, if that will help you out. I will take a picture of them tomorrow morning and post it so that you might be able to tell if it is something that would work. Sorry I can't get to it before then.

 

In a laptop you have a cooling unit that is a combo of heat sink and fan or two fans, The pcg-k45 happens to have 2 fans in it's cooling unit. Knowing my luck i kinda doubt a fan from the vaio model you have would be the proper size. It might be worth a try though. I'll wait for the pics and maybe you can find out how much postage would be to ship it to Chicago heights IL.

 

I have had a lot of success taking apart failed fans in laptops and PCs, cleaning the bearing and putting i small amount of silicone oil on the bearing.

 

Didn't do any searching to see if it was a desktop or laptop. My error. I happen to have a sony laptop, also, laying around. I'll go drag it out and get back on the specs. Worthless to me. I'll open it up and see. Be back later.
