Multiple iexplore.exe

    When i have a look in my processes in Windows Task Mananger i notice theres a couple of them in the list

    should there be a couple ?

    yes, sometimes. if one didn't close completely it won't be on the screen but still taking up space in your task list. just end task all your iexplore.exe's and kill them off, then launch a new copy.

    It actually depends on what version of IE you have.

    If you have version 7 or 8, then yes it is normal and expected to see a minimum of two processes, and you will get even more processes if you open more tabs.

    (Version 6 worked differently and multiple processes only occurred if you opened multiple instances of IE separately via the start menu or desktop icon.)

    Hi

    Multiples also tie into having multiple IE windows or tabs open, and if only one windows and tab open and you see two and its IE8 then one of them is for the crash recovery of the tabs.

    What Windows and IE version you using?

    XP and IE 8

    at the moment i have two in the list but i only have one IE open with nothing in the tabs.

    As already advised
    You will never see less than two iexplore.exe processes in Task Manager even with just one window showing one tab.
