Liteon gcc 4120b stopped reading my game cd

Not sure what the issue is. I have been using this to play Age of Empires III for about 6 months now and now all of a sudden it doesn't read the CD or any of the game cds. Will read and executed DVD's and other types of cds but not this one. Have reloaded the drivers, removed any new programs, checked the connection and even did regedit with the upper and lower filters. Appreciate any advice or perhaps just need to replace the drive.:confused

 

Have you tried the CD in another drive/computer?

Can you see any major scratches/dirt of the surface of the disk?

 

The cd works in other pc's. I have reinstalled all the drivers. Downloaded Nero, changed the permissions and when I put in the cd I get a error of "non supported disc format". It has been working for a very long time and now its not. Son plays game alot and not sure if he did anything. Any more ideas? Getting to be more of a hassle, but hate to throw it away. Like I said still plays cds, dvds etc but no this game disc.

 

Correction: Error says unsupported disc type vice unsupported disc format. Sorry. Know need to put correct stuff out here.

Can you find out the make and model of the CD-ROm drive please/

If necessary unscrew it from the computer chassis and the information will be on a sticker on top of the drive.

 

Lite-On CD-RW/DVD COMBO GCC 4120B

On sticker only says LH COMBO

Hope this helps. Like I said can play music cds, read others but not the game cd. Appreciate any info.
