The Guy and I pre-ordered our version of The Witcher from a European online store, so we'd get all the stuff they were forced to censor out before selling it in the US. :-D I was very happy to see it available in a free patch.

You are aware that they're making a sequel, right?

I was not aware of a sequel, I'll have to look into it. I'm not surprised though considering how good the game is. I'm planning on ordering Sapkowski's The Last Wish short story collection after I finish up with the game.

Thanks for the tip on the sequel; any chance you could divulge the name of that European store you pre-ordered from? I'd hate to have to wait it out for the real version to release state-side and honestly I've never tried ordering anything from overseas.

The Last Wish was included with the Special Edition we got. No game spoilers, unless you count the brief appearance of characters from the story collection in the game. :)

I don't remember the name of the store, but I can find out in time for the sequel release. Remind me.

    Bump! :)

I completely failed in my quest to find out where I bought The Witcher from, however, I found something better. Amazon.co.uk sells videogames in English, they ship to the US, they take PayPal and preorders, and the way the dollar and pound are going right now, the prices are not that exorbitant in the end.

I tested it out with my existing Amazon account, and it took my login, and gave me access to my wish lists. I didn't try placing an order, but the friend that suggested Amazon to me lives in Germany and routinely buys his games from Amazon.co.uk, since it's both cheaper and less strictly regulated than the gaming market in Germany is.

all this talk about the witcher, i've acquired it for umm..testing purposes, i'm gonna try it out now.

Thanks for the idea Mimsy, I'll check them for it whenever it's released. I almost bought an out of print book I couldn't find anywhere else through them a while back but procrastinated about it until I forgot, so since that made me remember maybe I'll just by them both at once! :dancer

@thesmokingun; try it, and if you're into rpgs I'm betting you'll be hooked before the opening cinema is over with. It's that good.

I am going to go off topic and elect my favorite games since I was 5+ for all genres because I still love them all and play them to this day with my friends and family.

    1. Half-Life 2 (2004) PC
Loved the single player on this game and the graphics and e1 and e2 of the half-life series

    2. Counter-Strike (2000) PC
Played this game to death and gave up sleeping hours for school and football practice the main reason was the level of difficulty because every time I thought I had the game down newer players that were better then me continued to emerge and the LAN scene was incredible.

    3. Sonic the hedgehog (1992) Genesis
My parents never cared for games when I was growing up but my mother in particularly got hooked on sonic and we would always take turns trying to beat the stages together

    4. Halo (2003) xbox
Only game I have ever played with my friends that despised consoles and downright got hooked even friends parents would play with us some days multi-player and single player legendary was a true adventure

    5. Frogger (1997) PlayStation
I loved frogger for the Sega and this frogger was truly the funnest game I ever played for the PS growing up every level was fun and more challenging then the last

    6. Crash Bandicoot (1996) PlayStation
Not much to say about this game other then the fact that it got better with each and every level

    7. Half-Life (1999) PC
I must say I thought Doom was a fun game but HL blew it away when it was released at the time it was amazing for its time and the only game that took me more then six months to beat on max difficulty

    8. Virtua-Fighter (1995) Sega Saturn
I never cared for fighting games like tekken and street fighter or even Dead or Alive growing up but Virtua-Fighter for the Saturn was the funnest pvp game that was pure martial arts I ever played growing up with my cousin

    9. Vectorman (1995) Genesis
Was my second Sega game I fell in love with who would have ever thought blowing up Televisions to get new weapons and possible health could be so much fun

    10. Resident Evil 4 (2005) Game Cube
I enjoyed all the resident evil games from the franchise growing up but this one was by far the most enjoyable because of the graphics and difficulty factor I didn't even own a game cube but my friend did and we ended up skipping school and playing for 30 strait hours before we realized how much time had passed

I'm sure everyone here has there favorite games but these were mine personally from the past 15 years

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat is the best of the best

There is a photorealistic exclusion Zone that includes Pripyat town, Yanov railway station, Jupiter factory, Kopachi village and more, recreated by their true-to-life prototypes.

Anyone seen the stalker movie the game is based on?Its supposed be amazing only problem is its very slow,3 hours long and in Russian...

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079944/

I now I've played the game I know the story and the ending so I'm thinking it might be 3 hours I can't get back:-D If anyone here cares to give a positive comment I might let this movie take me 3 hours closer to my death...

I just picked up BattleField Bad Company 2 the other day and it's decent. The new Dragon Age Origins expansion is awesome so far.

lol for PC users, the things I said are from more of a PS3 experience.
It may have been fixed now but servers were only a small issues compared to the hit detection on some of the weapons (this differs from lag when 2 people are standing still but you miss.
Not to mention the amount of glitches people have used to their advantage, the Javelin glitch, the care package glitch, the care package runner glitch and then all the "Under/on top of the map" glitches.

The MP was rushed and since IW and Activision have now had a fall out I wonder if it wasn't rushed but just done half arsed out of spite or lack of concentration.

Could have been great, unfortunately to most long term gamers it's a fail or as they say in game world "Epic Fail" lol

Even the things they added, the kill streaks etc, set up the right KS and you go 50-2 in a match with ease, thats simply lame, you have an entire military at your disposal everything from simple UAV's, to AC130's and even Nukes........seriously?..... Halo anyone?

Now IW are moving away from Activision it means Treyarch will be making some more AI insanity in the COD series and personally I think it peaked with COD4 and is now on a steep decline.

What would be funny is if EA hired IW to make the next Medal Of Honor :-D

I'd have to mention Sopwith, Dope Wars, Diablo 1&2, probably 3 when it arrives, Quake1, Quake3. Doom & Doom3 and Hexen. L.O.R.D was my favorite door game back in the days of BBS.

    Spore Galactic Adventures

i hate to say it, but after playing the witcher for a while, i don't like it at all. just very clunky maneuvering and all the cut scenes, jeez enough already. wasn't very fun, and getting to bag ladies, while always fun in a game, doesn't help the game much.

i do have to add mass effect 2 to my list probably in the top 2 or 3, one of the funnest single-player games i've played in a long time. and i'm currently playing battlefield bad company 2, and it's real fun with a group of friends, but not top 10 material, yet. it has alot of things that should have been in shooter games for a long time now, but it also has its quirks.

Have to agree 85% here, ME2 is probably one of the best games I've played in years. The Witcher I intend to play more of but I found it very easy to be drawn away from the game, meaning it didn't grab me by my danglies and force me to play it longer, the reasons, pretty much what you said Mr.Gun.

Also has a habbit of crashing which is kind of anoying, many of the reviews I read said it was a bit unstable.

Worth trying, to me worth playing longer to see how it goes, but never gonna hit my top ten list except maybe top ten RPG's.

My Top 10 Games of the Decade....

    Freelancer
    Stalker(Oblivian Lost Mod)
    Fear
    Mass Effect 2
    Batman Arkham Asylum
    GTA Vice City
    Call of Duty 2
    Diablo 2
    Half Life
    Fable

Lots more there to add but they are the first to come to mind.

That's interesting, I never had that problem with The Witcher. I know a lot of reviews said it was unstable, but I also know that a lot of reviewers played it before the first official patch was released, and that patch fixed a lot of technical issues.

I'm curious now... what am I doing to keep it stable that you're not? :)

Oh nothing probably, just my luck lol
Honestly, Crysis has sound and crash issues, my boy plays it fine , I get the issues, Silent Hill HC has a large number of issues, my boy gets none, I get them all lol

That does occasionally work the flip side though, I sometimes wonder if it's just compatability with certain drivers of GFX cards, or maybe other software conflicting.

Or... it could be my storage drive where my games are installed, it's pretty old and maybe simply not as sharpe as it used to be, which is probably most likely in my case.

To be honest I've often wondered why some get isses while others don't.

Hmmm...well I recently joined the forums so I am putting in my 1 cent as well.

The games here are in no particular order, just the top 10 games in my opinion.

    1) Final Fantasy Tactics
    2) The Witcher
    3) Call of Duty 4 ( MP ofcourse )
    4) Modern Warfare ( whole series )
    5) Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
    6) Dragon Age: Origins
    7) F.E.A.R
    8) Resident Evil 2 (mainly but love the series)
    9) Baldur's Gate 2
    10) Starcraft (I know its old but its the BEST. I recently got invited for the SC2 Beta and it just brings back so many memories)

Final Fantasy series hold their own substance but not to make it on the TOP 10 for me atleast other than Tactics.

I am however looking forward to some games like:
    Diablo 3
    Starcraft 2
    SW: TOR
    Final Fantasy 14

I'm sure I have missed some of the forthcoming games that I am waiting for.

It does if you play the completely unpatched version, and either don't know what you're doing, or are deliberately trying to make the fights last as long as possible. :p

I see so you get good so the game is over as fast as possible and install the patch which teleports you straight to the end boss.

Well, to bring this thread back, I decided to buy the EE of the witcher. Well, I couldn't install it. So I bought another copy. Same issue.

Then found it on Impulse. $20 for The Witcher: EE Directors cut (This version has everything the original Polish version had).
