There's always something to pick at

I don't know about you guys but I'm getting pretty cheesed off with all the complaining about the Olympics.

Let me list a few things.

The latest is the "I believe" song.
    Apparently it's grammatically incorrect.
"I believe in the power of you and I"
It should be "I believe in the power of you and me"

Well it's a song, songs are not meant to be grammatically correct, no one moaned when Roger Daultry was "Talkin' 'bout my generation"
No one said a word when Van Halen sang "Ain't Talkin' ' bout love"
"I belive in the power of you and I" fits much better in musical terms, so grammar freaks, learn something about music before you start.

The British complained about Canada being unprepared because of the lack of snow.........yeah I'm sure Canada would apologise for this......... if they could control the weather. I wonder how the 2012 Olympics will go when there's a 50% chance it will rain.
Warmest winter in Vancouver for 114 years, no ones fault.

Whistle sled track too dangerous........it's a HIGH SPEED TRACK!!! of course it's not safe, traveling at 140kmh is never safe when in a sled.
Plus most of the world class athletes rank it number 4 or 5 in the world of hard tracks. You want danger? Try the Cresta Run.

Canadians complain Amy Williams helmet is too aero dynamic, well the Canadian judges said it's fine, you want to go faster.... by a new helmet.

The USA complaining the Canadian Snowbaording outfit is too aerodynamic and isn't in keeping with Snowboarding tradition.
Guess what... this is the Olympics, not a fashion show, if you guys want to wear baggy jeans and jacket for a speed race then thats your problem.

Cross country track doesn't have enough safety barreiers (after Petra Madjic fell), so what do you suggest? Fence off the entire forest?
She made a mistake, she fell, she got up and done what she had to. No one else fell.

The British press laughing at the blue lines on snow tracks. They are there to aid track visibillity and help with depth perception in poor weather. Besides, I don't think Britain can say much about any Skiing events given our best ever hope was Eddie the Eagle Edwards who finished last in everything back in the 80's.
I also don't think the British can laugh about anyones handling of snow given this past few months where Britain has been shut down because of a few inches that people here deal with every year without concern.

It's been one thing after another and it sickens me, the Olympics has been fantastic, the Canadians have put on a wonderful show with a few hiccups.
Viewer stats show this has been the most watch Olympics in history, records have been smashed, new records set, new events played out, history made.

If any one of these people complaining about the way it's held had ANY idea whatsoever of how much work an event like this takes I don't think they would be quite as quick to moan about it.

I say thank you to Vancouver for putting on a phenomenal show and providing me with free entertainment of the worlds greatest athletes at a beautiful venue.

To the rest of you moaning about it.........get a life.

Is this just your excuse for having a dig at all other nations, particularly Britain?

And ditto to Avon. I've really enjoyed this games, though couldn't the Canadians have done something about that fog yesterday in the downhill races?:-D:wave:)

Though I enjoyed the games, I haven't followed it closely enough to hear of any criticism, but I don't listen to the post game critiques.

Yes I love having a dig at my own country. *sarcasm*
I live in Canada and I have just been in Awe at the atmosphere here and I think they deserve more credit.
I was born in England and lived there until I was 28, I have a 600 year herritage in the same area and an easily found family tree of nearly 1000 years, I'm very proud to be English/British....... but I'm not a blind patriot who just agrees with whatever my country says.
I have a UK Yahoo mail account as my main and see something nearly every day about how bdly the Olympics have been organized at it infuriates me.

It's not just the UK, many others too including Canada as posted in OP, but mostly the UK and I don't understand it, UK and Canada are closely related....why the anamosity?
It's mainly the press I know but as any Brit with any sense knows, the British press are some of the worst in the world for this kind of crap.

@Brandy.. They imported the fog so they could justify the blue lines :-D

O yeh naturally I hate this country, I hate the way it is run, I hate the way political correctness has taken over....

Ooookay, I don't think Aus is much better as far as politics goes.
But I know what you mean, having said that, you will see when you move and go back after a few years how Great our country is in so many ways.
The country is Great Britain for a reason, unfortunately the leaders are all idiots.....but thats true of most countries lol

Yeah true, but you know what, reguadless of who ruled what, the British people have always been the same. We have always stood together when needed. I've always been proud of the people, not the leaders.
It's the people that make it Great Britain.

On the Olympic issue, I'm suprised there has not been banks of lawyers hired to contest every little discrepancy, if the helmet wrong size, is the lycra too tight, was the wrong wax used on the skiis etc

Can be big money spinner for the winner of a gold medal and make their careers 10x+ more profitable.

In sports there will always be complaints.

I agree it's been the most enjoyable Olympics I've watched in a long time. They don't seem to be spending as much time away from the actual events to do those ridiculous half hour personal stories on the athletes that people would watch 20/20 if they were truly interested.

Just a reminder folks: Please do not delve into issues that are more appropriate for Hot Topics, which we got rid of for a reason, or this thread will have be locked. Stay on the Olympic topic, which is a good one. :)

and with that, the other boot dropped :-D

the only thing I dislike about the Olympics is the Olympic village, 10,000 condoms, my lack of talent in any sport, and my former steroid use.

Oh Rikky, trust you to throw the "You're complaining about complainers" at me lol
Little different though, I'm complaining about those who just like to moan about something they are not willing to try or not good enough to try.
And those who are complaining without reason. Just to moan.

@Tim... I'd give you a run for your money there, but I'm too lazy to train for it :-D

Hmm, what are these 'Olympics' you speak of?? :-D

But you will always have people complaining about new or different technology, because many racing events are decided in fractions of a second.
Many of the sports are athletes and technology combined, so as there are advanced, there will be losers who cry about a helmet, or track conditions and such.

lol, think about how much people bitched when the first person brought a dry ice cooled computer to an overclocking contest... :-D
