    1998 1500 Vulcan Classic here.

Looks a little different now though. Got into an accident and had to replace Headlight, handlebars and remove the bags as they were torn on the leather that they hung from. handlebars are a little higher now, which is great since now i can see out of my tiny mirrors. Also had to change the handgrips so i bought flame ISO grips to match the new flame/skull mirrors.

That sucks about the accident.... Hope you didn't get hurt. The bike sounds awesome!

The Sportster is completely custom. It has been chopped out, it has a Springer front, and blacked out.....

The Night Train is pretty much stock except for the 16 inch apes that are on it. This is the bike that we use for all of our trips.....

Wasn't too badly hurt. Been about a month and 2 weeks. Concussed, cracked a few ribs, pulled ALOT of muscles. Ribs, neck and shoulders hurt in bed at night if i roll too fast but other than that no real pain anymore. Just glad to be off the vicodin.

Those have to be 2 of the best looking harleys ive seen. Look like fun rides. =)

Seems like the best looking harleys are ones that have been personalized ;)

where did you get the bags for the night train? i may need a new pair but im trying not to spend a fortune. Those look like good ones.

Got the bags at a local flea market! LOL Created mounts for them so they can be detached. Thanx for the compliments on the bikes.... Yeah they are fun rides. The Sporty is a blast. She is down right now because more mods are being made..... But this is the fun of owning bikes!

Glad you weren't to badly hurt. You had an angel with you.

Of course! lol, my bags were from Craigslist. Had LITERALLY just put them on before the ride. I think i can mount them to the bag guards with a little ingenuity pretty easily, so i may be ok. Specially since they were only 75 bucks for normally 300 or much more bags lol

I'm sure you'll find this to be a joke, but in a way - I am a biker as well. Just not with the engine powered kind. I pretty much gave up biking as I didn't have the expereince, nor money for a gas powered version. And I was tired of the limitation with the skinny wheeled human powered bike. So late last summer I got a Mongoose XR-200 and racked up well over 300 miles in not more than 4 months of ownership. That bike with full suspension could go just about anywhere, including soft marshy wetlands. Heck, I didn't need a trail to go where that bike has went to. Drawback (& learning experience) is that the OEM tires were not meant for the areas I was riding. I had to replace the OEM tires with thorn resistant tires.

I'm sure by next summer I'll rack far more than +300 miles ont hat bike. :cool

    Sick looking bike Asus.

Weather--actually i kind of envy you. I couldnt pedal a bike if my life depended on it. if you ever get a motorbike, youll probably want a Bmw dual purpose bike. My buddy has one and he goes everywhere with it. Its basically a combo street/dirt/go anywhere bike. And its pretty nice looking IMO.

Weatherman, I agree with blatherbeard, I too envy you. I can pedal a bike but it would all but kill me LOL......

I envy you all. I use to have a BSA 500. Sweet looking bike. But always preferred riding a friends Harley.

About all I could ride now is a trike...( Like my wife would ever allow that!!). This thread needs more pictures....or members posting to http://www.pedaltothemetal.com/

When I was a kid, I used to ride a Hodaka Wombat down in the creek behind my house. I got good to riding like a fool on the trails. Hodaka's had a short wheelbase and you could ride a wheelie all day on one of those. :cool

When I got a bit older, (20ish), I bought a Kawasaki 900...man that bike was fast! You could roll on the throttle and the force would slide your butt back down the seat...all the while making your hand roll back even more on the throttle! Fun! :-D

When I turned 46, I had finally saved enough money to buy a new Harley. I was interested in a Fat-Boy or Custom Soft-tail, but I made the mistake of taking my wife along.:cry When she saw the small pad they had on the back for her, she said NO! I"M NOT RIDING ON THAT LITTLE PAD! :mad

When I asked her what bike she liked, she pointed out the Ultra-Classic. Nice bike, even though I told her it had a "lazy-boy recliner for a seat"! :duck So, I took it for a ride and it felt like riding a Cadillac! SOLD!:drool

I suppose my early days of riding permeated my soul because I now ride this 900lb cruiser like a dirt bike. My mechanic always laughs when I take it in because he sees the ground-off foot boards where I have been laying it over on corners. :-o Anyway, I like it and have a great time.

    Here ya go Tim...more images!:dood

Been riding since I was 16. I change my mind a lot, but keep going back to Vtwins. I just bought an 04 American Ironhorse, of course its 32 degrees in FLorida, so I only got to ride it much. I like to take casual rides around town for a couple hours, not much into long trips, saving those for my car.

Nice ride there Major Attitude, I like it! Did you have them build that custom for you?

Taking small rides around town is about all I do too. After a couple hours I'm ready to come home and pass-out! I try to ride mine to work most of the time....it's like a small vacation before work each day.

I like to ride in the spring or fall because the summer is just to hot. My bike has a problem with heat issues due to the crossover pipe. Thinking about changing it over to a true crossover...heard that helps a lot.

BTW...how did you get that thumbnail image to pop up?

That is a great deal because new Iron Horse's are much closer to 50k than 40k now.

Hardtailz across the street from me is around 21k new(higher if you get more custom). But to get a bike, built from the ground up for you, with all your specs, and nobody has ever ridden, Id pay it.

KingTabby, riding a bike is dangerous in it's own right but, it also gives you a tremendous sense of freedom!

Most states have motorcycle safety courses which are basically centered around "defensive" driving while on a bike...there are many drivers out there, especially today with the cell-phones, that are just too distracted to even notice a person on a motorcycle. But, with the proper training, anyone can learn what to watch out for and protect themselves.

There's a saying about riding a motorcycle and I find it to be so true, "it's not the destination of the ride but the experience of getting there!" I ride about 7 miles to work and back everyday. I find the experience of that short ride exhilarating, like a mini-vacation every day. Also, you'll find that riders everywhere are in a sort of group all there own...we take care of each other and look out for each other.

Each winter that goes by, I park my bike in the garage and can't wait until I can get it back out again. And one other thing I've noticed, whenever you go to the gas station, someone always comes up and says, "hey, nice bike!" I meet so many people that way...it's just great! If you are able and have the funds, I hope you get to experience the freedom of riding a bike some day!

I have an 05 Honda Shadow Areo VT750 (black & silver) with all the add-ons. It's a great bike and I've never had a single issue with any part on it.

The only issue I have currently, is it's winter time in PA...man, I can't wait til spring.

Man, you got that right gymclasshero, it's winter all over and my poor bike is just sitting there with the battery tender connected to it....just waiting to be rode.
I was out the other day and saw some guys riding and I looked at the temp gauge in my car and it said 34deg! I don't mind riding in the cold but I draw the line at 40 or so! Maybe I'll just go out and start it up anyways! :drool

former. i've been grounded and forced to travel via steel cage for a while now.

62 model VW flat-four, performance cam, 4-speed trans, mounted on a stretched unknown year harley frame, with springer front-end. 16 inch rims on the back, oversized front tire. clutch is right peddle and brake left, gas on ape hanger, shifter centered where gas tank would be on standard bike with an old 8-ball drilled for shifter knob. motor locked up and while i can tear down and rebuild laptops and towers in my sleep i know nothing about mechanicing and don't have the patience to learn or the liquid cash to get it fixed :cry:cry:cry:cry:cry:cry:cry:cry:cry

No bike currently, but hope to have another by next year. Bought a house this year and lots of dough going into that for tile, carpet, fixing a few problems, etc.

Rode as passenger with my dad when I was just a young boy. He started out with Indians and Harleys and then went to a BMW.

Bought my first bike while in the army -- a little 90 cc thing sold by Monty Wards (or maybe Sears? -- think it was called a "Riverside"). Was stationed at Ft Ord CA and just bought the bike to get into Monterey and over to Carmel Beach (that little 90 cc thing had to huff and puff to carry me over the big hill separating Monterey and Carmel, but it managed).

When I turned 40 I got the itch to have a real bike and bought a used but well cared for BMW R100. Was living in lower Michigan then as now. Rode that bike up the north bank of the St. Lawrence River one May, past Quebec City, took a ferry over to the south shore of the river, rode down through Quebec on the south shore, New Brunswick and then over to Nova Scotia/Cape Breton Island. Wow, that was a great trip and beautiful country to ride through!

Also rode the beamer out to New Mexico and back once.

My next bike was a Kawasaki Concours which I got a really great deal on used. Made quite a few trips out to New Mexico on that machine and loved touring on it. Sold it recently, but really looking forward to getting another touring bike and making some more long trips.

Really like traveling on a bike and love riding after dark on good two lane blacktop with little or no traffic. (I stay off of interstate highways as much as possible -- can make great time but what's the point? I like riding through the small towns, the mom and pop restaurants and motels). Riding at night in good weather really is a magic carpet ride. US 54 through Missouri and across most of Kansas was a fine ride, especially during the night.

Have some pics of my bikes but they're in storage. Will try to post one or two once I get moved into our house later this summer. They were both stock bikes (except for a custom seat on the beamer) so nothing unique to look at but I sure loved traveling on them.

    Ride on!

Currently 9 bikes [I think, have to go count] as I just sold one. Sized from '64 Honda CT90 Trail up to a KZ1000-P15 cop bike.

The best ride I ever had was in Germany to the Elpfanten Treffen held during January at the Nürburgring race circuit in the Eifel Mountains of Germany. It was ankle deep snow and an estimated 8000+ riders there.

Just stumbled onto this thread again and thought I'd report I bought a used black 2000 Honda Valkyrie Tourer (about 45,000 miles on it) last summer. Sitting in the garage now as I'm in southern Michigan and it's snow and ice season.

It looks like a "bad boy" with all the black and chrome. Would like to either upgrade it to or trade it for a Valkyrie Interstate as then I might be able to get my wife to travel with me for short weekend trips at least.

The Tourer model has hard bags and a windshield while the Interstate has a small integrated fairing/windshield, "pod" air deflectors, and an integrated passenger seat/trunk. Some Valk Interstates also have driver/passenger intercom/radio/music systems which would be great for long trips.

Sure is great to have a bike to ride again. Let's see, it's January...sigh....be late March or early April before temps begin to hit 45 or 50 consistently.

In the meantime I just walk out into the garage now and then, look at it and grin! :-D
