is there a simple/obvious way to temporarily disable the lights on the front of my laptop? power, hard drive access, and "running on battery".

power and battery are solidy "on" or "off", at least, but the HDD light flitters and flutters the entire time i'm trying to watch something. bad enuf during some youtube clip, but the day i turn off all the lights and boot up "sophie's choice", it's simply too distracting for words.

    Black electrical tape?

The only way I know of dissabling lights is to unplug them but on laptops I'm not entirely sure how to go about that.

I'd throw tape over the lights, eliminates any possibility of doing something that causes you technical heaches.

Having said that someone might know of a way to dissable them in the OS or BIOS but not to my knowledge.

    Yeh, good advice there.

I personally dont like "modding" laptops however small the job, just cover them up with some tape as suggested.

I'm currently using electrical tape. Really wanna turn them OFF somehow.

I hereby retract the "temporarily" from my request. They serve no purpose anyways. The "power" light, for example -- I know when my laptop is on!
