CPU Upgrade or the whole thing?

I'm sorta torn on what to do here. I can either:

A)
Upgrade my E4300 to a Q9505 and keep everything else.
Asus P5E-N Motherboard
4GB DDR 2 667 Ram

Total cost $239.99

B)
Buy an Intel i3 530
GIGABYTE GA-H55M-UD2H LGA 1156 Intel H55 HDMI Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
OCZ PC3-10666 Platinum RAM - 4GB, 2x2GB, 1333MHz, DDR3, Low Voltage, Dual Channel

Total cost $219.00


What would you do?

 

Id go for the full upgrade mate.

 

that's what i was thinking but while I was deliberating the sale price on the motherboard ended and the total price just went up $35... bleh I wanted a good deal.

Although the new processor out performs the i3. The new system would allow me to upgrade in the future though while just replacing the CPU would be the end of the line for this motherboard. Decisions, decisions.

 

Are you sure that the quad core is compatible with your current MB.

219$ seems extremely cheap, are you sure these are new, working items?

Remember, in computer hardware, you generally get you pay for!

But if it was up to me, i would go for the i3 rig, with a better MB.

 

Everything was on sale item from either Tigerdirect or Newegg. That quad core is compatible with my current MB. Only thing is the ram would be running at 667 when the FSB on the processor is much higher. I was thinking of going with the new build but most of the prices have gone back up or items out of stock. Guess I wasn't meant to have it. ;-)

 

I would step up to the i5

 

Obviously, the i5 would spank the other two!

But i don't think the i5 is even in question due to budget limitations.
