Zone Alarm causing Windows 7 to freeze?

    I have a new pc running Windows 7. I installed Zone Alarm, which I used successfully for years under Windows XP on another pc, and now my new pc goes into a hard freeze requiring a power off and restart. Anyone have a clue as to what might be the problem? Thanks Voxov

    Personally I would recommend uninstalling ZA and installing COMODO (caps theirs). It is a very similar product and may save you hours of troubleshooting.

    Most computers come with trialware.
    I installed ZA on an XP computer and the Norton trialware was not completely cleaned off - result, BSOD.

    Look to see what is installed and get removal tools (I had Norton Internet Security, which I think also had a firewall). Cleanly remove trialware and also be sure that you turn off Win 7's firewall before you attempt to install another one.

    Good suggestion. I will give Comodo a try if I can't figure out what's going on with ZA.

    Thanks, ZA wouldn't install until I removed McAfee (which provided a handy removal tool). Also, installing ZA seemed to automatically turn off the Windows firewall.
