Funny Little Story LOL ! But a dilemma !

Funny Story !
My friend came round this morning nearly crying and pulling his hair out with laptop in hand, OH ! PLEASE HELP he says to me, i've been at this all week my laptop won't pick up wireless, and no joking, he sat there and told me how he had ran all sorts of spyware/malware/AV and anything else you may want to think of, anyway i said to him leave it with me i'll check it out, see what i can do, anyway before he had even pulled his car of the drive i had it fixed, how you might be asking? well as he was leaving i clicked on his network and sharing and it said " Your wireless connection is not switched on, this is usually done by visiting network and sharing or a small switch on the front of the laptop " i switched the switch on the front of the laptop and KAPOW !!!! wireless internet LOL connection established i then gave him a call on his mobile/cell phone, he hadn't even got 20 yards away from my house and he had to turn back to collect his LT, he now thinks i'm amazing and the greatest computer engineer in the world because i was so quick ! :-D
My Dilemma !
Do i tell him the truth or just let him think i'm an absolute genius ! :innocent:confused:-D

 

Go ahead and just tell him the truth. He already thinks you are a genius or he wouldn't have called you to help him in the first place. Be gracious in your glory.
Still feels good, though, doesn't it?

 

I think i will tell him, but i'll leave him sweat a bit first, and call him tomorrow morn ! LOL

 

LOL, I charge extra for miracle fixes. :-D I usually keep them a little longer, run CCleaner extra virus/spyware scans and defrag them, then return them. Since I can do that with minimal time and effort, I don't charge for it, and they usually tell me how much faster their PC is after I 'fixed' it.

OH ! Don't worry about that auggie he's already said he's going to get me a few can's as we call them here in the UK, i shall tell him after acceptance !

 

LOL, my mom calls me all the time, "My internet isn't working blah blah blah" acting like the world is ending. I say "Is the little light on the left edge orange or blue?" Of course it's orange, so I tell her to slide the little switch beside the light and wait about 5 seconds. Then again I am the smartest person alive to be able to fix it over the phone.


But question? Is $45/hour to much to charge my mom for tech support????

One of the rules of guys. If he's a close friend let him have it, he may try to buy your silence. If he's just an a acquaintance just tell him the gymsun conflabulator was out of sync with the dictum tables. A very tricky (for most techs) parameter reset was all that was required.

 

Ah, the friend, Rusty, if he is a good friend, I say tell him. Next time he has a problem, it may not be such an easy fix rolleyes
