I've mentioned a site that automatically downloads and installs the latest versions of your favourite freeware but usually the thread gets instantly deleted so I won't mention the site.

What are the odds though that MG could do something similar offer a program to download and install all your favourites unattended?

Or you could allow the prog to auto update.

What freeware are you talking about?

Hmm.. that is a good idea. I'll spend a few days whipping up a beta.

Secunia(free OSI version) is listed on MG's. But does not auto update all "favorite free ware".
As Ned said, what is your interpretation of best freeware:confused

If you don't want to mention the site - fine. Can you let us in on the freeware it auto updates:)

This should have been in Software forums, anyway.

    Cheers..

@zDawg32 look forward to the RTM:-D

    Am I missing something:confused
The site hosts applications, from what I see, period. Where does it auto update from? The Pro version downloads the latest installers for multiple PC in a business environment, from what I gather. Still not an auto update:confused

    Cheers..

Edit to add: You mentioned installing not updating. So why would one need to keep installing the latest freeware, instead of updating manually or auto as some offer.

Every single time I reformat a computer I use ninite, as it saves time.

Automatically downloading and then installing the most current versions of your chosen freeware while doing a windows update saves a ton of time and effort. It's really very cool, and something I think would be a perfect fit for MG.

We've actually done some betas of programs like that but really there are about 1000 different problems with using programs of that type. Even then, programs that need the a lot of updating, already have updates it built in – which renders that end pointless.

We’ve discussed some sort of page monitor program which would inform you if we updated a page – hence giving the user a choice of whether they would like to install the update or not.

This seems like a safer alternative.

We are working on a new CMS that will have more user integration. Once that happens, hose sorts of things will be a reality.
