For a year now my pc will either hang or i get a BSOD with different error messages everytime. Ive got so sick of it i formatted my pc and just loaded windows XP Pro onto it and it hung then! >>gofigure<<< so now i have put all my programs on and just live with it. I would be using my mouse and then everything stands still! i would be listening to music on the Headphones and it would stick and make a heck of a noise stuck on a note! or the pc reboots from a BSOD serious error or at other BSOD i get different error logs. All of this is getting to me because i paid well over a £1000 for the rig (i built and bought the components my self 2 yrs ago):

Motherboard Name: DFI LANParty UT nF4 SLI-DR Expert
    CPU Type: DualCore AMD Athlon 64 X2, 2400 MHz (12 x 200) 4800+
Video Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GX2 SLi (512 MB)
    Module Name 2 x 1 GB OCZ OCZ5001024ELGEGXT PC4000 DDR SDRAM
HardDisk Drive WDC WD1001FALS-00J7B1 (931 GB, IDE)
HardDisk Drive WDC WD6400AAKS-00H2B0 (596 GB, IDE)
External HardDisk Drive Seagate Desktop USB Device (931 GB, USB)
    Optical Drive 2 x PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-111D
monitor is a 32" Mirai HD TV that supports Pc connection
The case is a Thermaltake Armor with plenty of fans running.

I recently cleaned the paste off the CPU and re-administed it.
I run constantly anti virus protection with Avast freeware, Windows Armor. Register Easy to clean registry up.
I have taken out all cables and reseated them.
Ran Memtest86 with a minimum of 3 passes and the Ram is ok
I have recently used Combofix and have the log file if you wish to see. (Its Big)
So now i dont know what to do i have done everything i can possibly think off and it still happens. Maybe once or twice a day even when i`m not using it just running ( i have it running 16hrs aday...but it is cool enough i have the side off the case)
at time it will just stop and hangs there ...cant move mouse or anything so i do a soft reboot or theres a BSOD and i have to do a reboot.
I have been telling you allot about the hardware after reading it back so just to let you know i run xp pro with sp3 (ligitimate). I have also let Driver Checker Pro upgrade all my drivers to the latest ones (i was getting the problem before i got this program also incase you think it gave me a dodgy driver).

Last hope gentleman cos i`m considering buying another pc now (less money (once stung kinda thing)) but what a waste of money dont you think!
Thanks for your consideration guys and good luck

    Hi

To get some info on the actual BSOD try this info and guide HERE and attach the log/s (info on how to attach is at the bottom of the guide.

Anything in Device Manager that has a yellow ! mark?

What security applications do you have installed, I note the ones you mention above, do you have any others? not come across Windows Armour yet, so if you uninstall this then does your PC still BSOD? at times some security applications are not compatible with others.

Does this happen if you run in Safe Mode?

Thanks for your quick reply ...WOW!
ok Ive attached the log file i saved it as a txt file so it should be ok to open in word.
I do have a yellow qusetion mark on a device i havent put a driver to yet i can load it off the utility disk for my motherboard but then it seems to revert my usb to 1.0 instead of 2.0 which is faster..and that is PCI simple communications controller (i ordered an internal usb hub off the net and loaded its driver of its disk! wondering if that could be pointing to it?) All rest is ok.
    Security apps are:
Windows Defender for xp (sorry i said armour)
    Avast free antivirus.
I have run other security programs like malwareBytes and AVG and SBotSearchandDestroy to see if they pick anything up but all is ok.
To be honest i havent ran my pc soully on safe mode so i couldnt tell u if i get the BSOD when that is run. I have used it to change and run only basic drivers at start up and then rebooted as normal start up and i have still had the problem when that has been done
just to let you know I have ran Avast to do a full test and when it gets to about 80% it hangs again or will reboot so it never finishes. I deleted it and reloaded it and the same happens!!
I`m on all day to sort this out so reply and i`ll see it without delay.
    Thanks again

Hi ive just gone and followed you malware removal sticky to the tee and it came up clean. Could a dodgy cable cause all theses different BSOD errors and hanging pc???
cos the pc screen flickers to pink and back again untill i push the cable that goes into the tv is pushed in slightly. i seem to think its something else but ur the experts. minidump attached

if your getting BSOD errors and hanging PC on a fresh install then it would seam that you have a hardware fault and most probably intermittent. It's very difficult to diagnose if everything sounds OK and may pay you to take it to a store to get an estimate for getting it fixed or get a new one if it's more then 5 years old I'd go with a new one

Ive in the back of my mind always thought it would be hardware but to replace each and every component untill the problem stops would be very expensive. ouch looks like it gonna be a test rig now (one very expensive one)

good thing is i get to buy an other pc. hee! hee! wife will hate that.

Do u advise just buying a complete base unit or buying the parts separatly??

I was thinking of building the unit around the AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 965 Black Edition 125W 3.40GHz (Socket AM3) Processor.

For as cheap as desktops are these days, you should buy a base unit. Much cheaper. Building PC's these days is more of a hobby and for those with particular tastes, or perceived tastes.

I think your setup, at present is still good.
You never listed your psu ??
Sata cables gave me similar problems , about a year ago, on my rig, and occassionally they become loose fitting- try replacing them.
I find that having the side of the case does not help cooling unless you are in a well ventilated area, flowthrough seems to work best- I have a 100mm fan at the front pulling in air, and a 100mm at the rear extracting air, with a side fan 75mm blowing coolair onto my twin 7600's, but when checking the temperatures, I found with the side off, it actually ran hotter( in fact when I had a p4 3ghz cpu, some years back it really showed up).
Nvidia driver- I had some problem's with Nvidia driver update, and rolled back-Running core 2 duo 2.13ghz, 2x 7600's- possible Nvidia problem, as that was over the last year, and no trouble since.
As it was running well for so long, I would , personally remove and re-insert ram, and all leads to motherboard, and components, and blow out slots, and connections while computer is cold , with compressed air.:)
