So got the XP Security Centre virus and its a real bad one. Nothing works. Computer has blank screen on start up. Internet redirects. Wont let me load programs. Had to get a 'special renamed' version of malwarebytes to get the logs. Even struggled to get this thread going. Have had to type it out three times now!

Anyway, these are the only programs that would work (attachments below) all others wont run! Getting really stressed.

Having real problems, hopefully you can help find the problem.

    Many thanks in advance

    Adam

Check the Box labeled "I know what I'm doing" and then click on the lkrdx.dll file (in the “Keep” section) to select it.

Then, Select the >> button to move lkrdx.dll into the Remove section.

Now, click the Finish Button. When the Repair Summary box appears, click OK.
If it is already in the Remove section, just click Finish.

Now uninstall the below old versions of software:
    Java(TM) 6 Update 11

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5C255C8A-E604-49b4-9D64-90988571CECB} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: Internet Explorer Plugin - {AAE3E3EC-9663-4953-9B95-DE5B85912782} - splv3.dll (file missing)

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now download The Avenger by Swandog46, and save it to your Desktop.
    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Do not change any check box options!!
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it into the Input script here: part of the window:
    • Now click the Execute button.
    • Click Yes to the prompt to confirm you want to execute.
    • Click Yes to the Reboot now? question that will appear when Avenger finishes running.
    • Your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt and it will popup for you to view when you login after reboot.

After reboot, now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

Also delete all files and subfolders in the below folders except ones from the current date (Windows will not let you delete the files from the current day).

Okay we have a little more to do. First please download and save combofix.exe , that you could not run previously, to your Desktop. DO NOT run it yet.

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {AAE3E3EC-9663-4953-9B95-DE5B85912782} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: Java(tm) Plug-In 2 SSV Helper - {DBC80044-A445-435b-BC74-9C25C1C588A9} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\jp2ssv.dll (file missing)
    O18 - Protocol: linkscanner - {F274614C-63F8-47D5-A4D1-FBDDE494F8D1} - C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG9\avgpp.dll (file missing)

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now we need to use ComboFix to remove a bunch of malware files.
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it has expired or need to be updated to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box into it:
    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below
    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Now run Ccleaner. Only use the Run Cleaner button. Do not run anything else on any other forms.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\ComboFix.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

It did not come back. It was not gone yet which is the reason for my last fix. Also you picked up some new infections.

You need to stop doing things that I do not request. Once you started the cleaning process, you are only supposed to be doing what we request and nothing else. You installed AVG9 in between my last fix and now and my last fix was removing things that were left overs from a previously missing AVG. Now AVG is totally broken. You need to begin by uninstalling it and leaving it uninstalled until we are either finished or I ask you to reinstall it. My fix below is going to be deleting things from AVG again so make sure you uninstall it before continuing.

Now we need to use ComboFix

That comment was not in my last message. It was in an even earlier message and you did not install it at that point. Anyway, unless we specifically ask you to do something, you should not do it. ;) All I did was ask a question that you needed to answer. :)

You did not tell me how things are working. Part of the last fix did not work. I want to check out one your files. Please put a copy of the below file into a ZIP file and attach it here:

    c:\windows\system32\msqpmp32.exe

Also please answer on how things are currently working.

Things are working better now. Still feels a little sluggish at times like its not back to full working order.

    Heres that zip file

Click Start, Run, and enter sfc /scannow and click OK. There is a space after the sfc. This runs System File Checker which looks for missing or corrupted system files and attempts to replace/repair them from files on your hard disk or from the CD if necessary. So it will ask for the Windows CD if it needs it. Please let me know if it asks for your Windows XP or Windows XP SP3 CD and whether you had the CD to give to it.

No matter what happens above, just continue on with the below, however, please boot into safe boot mode to do the below. If you do not have internet access in safe boot mode, create the new CFscript.txt file on your Desktop before booting into safe mode. Also save the current version of combofix.exe to your Desktop first. Just save it. Do not run it until you get into safe mode to follow the instructions below.

    F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,C:\WINDOWS\system32\msqpmp32.exe,
    O2 - BHO: WormRadar.com IESiteBlocker.NavFilter - {3CA2F312-6F6E-4B53-A66E-4E65E497C8C0} - C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG9\avgssie.dll (file missing)

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now we need to use ComboFix again.

    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!

    • I will ask for this log below
    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

After ComboFix has rebooted your PC, allow your PC to boot into normal boot mode to continue with the below.

Now run this proecedure: GMER - running with a random name
Now run Ccleaner. Only use the Run Cleaner button. Do not run anything else on any other forms.

Now download the current version of MGtools and save it to your root folder. Overwrite your previous MGtools.exe file with this one.

Run MGtools.exe ( Note: If using Vista make sure UAC is still disabled. Also don't double click on it, use right click and select Run As Administrator )

    Now attach the below log:
    • C:\ComboFix.txt
    • the log from GMER
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

It asked for the SP3 CD when trying to do the first part. And the gmer kept freezing during the scan even when it was the only program running.

    Here are other logs.

Did you give it the CD? Or do you not have the CD? If you did not put in the exact CD ( the Win XP SP3 CD ) then you have missing or corrupted Windows system files that you need to get fixed buy giving it the CD as asked.

I suggest that you delete the c:\windows\system32\msqpmp32.zip file you created to upload here.

Your logs are clean. Now you need to get properly protected which the below steps will cover at the end.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
