Curious what some of the best all in one boards are.

What do you mean All-In-One motherboard?

Define all-in-one... do you mean ones that have NIC, graphics and sound built into the motherboard? If you do, all the best ones are in laptops.

Yes everything on the board no peripheral cards, total plug and play. Working with a school teacher said I would ask around, he wants "Fool Proof" so he can just have a spare board if a machine quits due to hardware. He says he needs decent performance but not top shelf, all in a desk top setup!

We would need to know if your friend will be using an Intel CPU or an AMD CPU. You could look on Newegg or Tiger Direct for MB's that would fill your needs.

A large percentage of motherboards today come with just about everything on them and the prices range from low to high depending on the CPU and feature strengths you want.

For example I have 3 desktop systems at home (plus 2 older laptops). My main system is based on a Biostar TA790GX-128M board. This has built-in Graphics (ATI Radeon 3300),networking, audio, 1394 firewire, floppy, IDE and 6 SATA drive ports. 790GX chipset boards run $80-$120+.
I run an AMD Phenom II X3-720 cpu in it.

Now I just updated my HTPC setup with a Biostar MCP6PB-M2+ (GeForce 6150SE graphics/chipset) and AMD Sempron X2 2200 2.Ghz dual-core CPU. This was a Newegg.com combo special for $65. Again this has built-in graphics, networking, audio, floppy, IDE and SATA ports.

My wife's PC in her study is one I put together from old parts but got a Biostar P4M900-M4 board for $40. Put an old Pentium 4 2.8Ghz cpu in it. This board too has graphics, audio, networking, etc., built-in.

So you need to specify a price point, then what you want the board to be capable of, then one can name "the best all-in-one" for that price range.

I am running an ASRock in my desk top he is going to come over and try some of his apps on to see how run, so many of us have much more computer then we need. He just wants simplicity, he say he can flip a board in 30 minutes and be up and running so much easier then tracking down individual items.
