    Okay, I got a virus-filled CPU that I had wiped and re-vamped... a little.

I've recently ran into a snag with my NVIDA card. It's a 4MX 4000 version for ME, but I'm trying to get it working for XP SP2. This card was something I added.
My cpu is a dell and doesn't have much memory.

    It says:
    UNKNOWN DEVICES
    ? VGA Controller

It finds it, but I don't know how to get the controller. Many downloads that scan your cpu, then update it you have to register for and I haven't got the money for that - let alone food.
I used to have a cd for my driver, but I've lost it, so I think I'm basically screwed-over.

Has anyone had this problem or know how to help??? Many thanks!

Just sounds like you need to install the drivers for your 4MX card. You can go to Nvidia's website (www.nvidia.com) and click the "Download Drivers" link and download the appropriate drivers to install.

I downloaded the drivers for XP already, but I think it's conflicting with the integrated Intel card...

Is there anything else I could do???

You need to go into your hardware manager and disable the onboard GFX card.

GFX card is referring to the Nvidia card I put in?

Or is it the Intel card on the mother-board?

I'm not new to cpu's, but I'm still learning too...

What you have to do is disable the intel (stock) graphics adapter so that the Nvidia one you installed takes over. Without doing so, you'll either have conflicts with IRQ/resources, or neither will work properly.

Right click on "My Computer", go to "Properties", then select the Device manager. Once you find the intel graphics adapter, right click it and disable it.

Once you've done that, reboot, and the system should automatically load up your Nvidia card.
