hp pavillion 761c need audio driver

    iam running windows xp home . need to reload sound driver .most drivers sites use to be free . now for this model its hard . anyone who can help . its greatly appreaciated

    Hi


    Try installing the Microsoft UAA driver from HERE, then the Audio driver from HERE (I had it saved for a friend with same motherboard from HP as yours so should be the same driver) and see how you go.

    But to install the audio driver you will need to do this via Device Manager (first do unzip the folder download of the driver) and the yellow ! mark thats likely by audio/sound or unknown devices and choose Properties then Driver tab > Update Driver > No not at this time > Next > Install from a specific location > Next, then browse to the location of the folder you just unzipped and then follow the prompts to install the driver.

    What Service Pack is your XP Home at?

    Do let us know what devices have yellow ! marks next to them?

    its a hp pavillion 700 series actualy 761c system # is p7485a serial # is mx216a3173 its 4cpu 1.90 ghs and 1 gig of ram under device it has multimedia controller with error 28 listed ..i never had a restore disk for it but if someone has copy i can get online would be easy to retore it thanks

    As HP dont seem to support that model now with all drivers install the Chipset which is an SIS650 Chipset from HERE (its a Packard Bell one but should work ok) then instal the drivers in the order that I posted in post #3 after you reboot from installing this one,

    Pleas do answer all questions posed to you as they are geared to help us help you, if you miss some out it could take longer to assist you and get your PC working ok.
