So it has 7 PCI-E x16 slots, no other expansion slots, and the specs say it can only do up to 4-way SLI or X-fire. How silly.

I dont think Nvidia themselves support 7- way SLI.

But i am sure you could have 7 cards, but just not in SLI.

Imagine the PSU you would need for 7 GTX 480's!

I've never seen the XL-ATX form factor nor any cases that could handle the mobo. If you fill all the slots with say 4XSLI and three Teslas, then you might need a pair of 1200W PSU's, not sure about the Tesla PSU needs are. That's just insane IMO but I'm sure it will sell.:)

I just can not imagine the power needed to drive 7 GPUs.

I have always been a sucker for new shiny toys but i think i will keep my hands firmly in my pockets and stick with my Asus Rampage 11 extreme with it paltry 3 GPUs even though only 2 are X 16.

Heck, there's no reason why you wouldn't want to keep your board, you haven't even given it a full test yet.;) I'm sure it will perform admirably!:wine

Some server cases will handle the motherboard with no problem.

I can certainly see getting rid of PCI slots - they are 20 years old!!! But I agree, unless you are in a control room and need a dozen monitors, that seems a bit extreme. But then that's what I'd expect from a £465.99 ($674.38) motherboard.

Then again, sitting in a flight simulator surrounded by a dozen large widescreen monitors would probably be a pretty cool, and unique experience.

I am using 1 PCI slot at the moment and was until recently using 2. On occasion I would have appreciated 3, as PCI cards in some cases are a lot cheaper than PCI-E.

They are. But PCI is going away, eventually. Just as EIDE and floppy drives, AGP, parallel and LPT ports are gone, or almost gone too.

Along with extended/expanded memory along with chips and HDD's no longer having MB written after them.;) Still, I know of one guy that still has an XT being used as a POS machine for his little store and he sees no reason to upgrade.:)

There's probably a few C64s or even a VIC-20 still chugging along, and serving the purpose just fine! ;)
